QUOTE(hezda @ Dec 30 2008, 08:25 AM) There is no doubt that JRPG genre is slowly dying due to their old tradition gameplay. I have always enjoy western RPG ever since the good o' PC days. From Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Night, Fallout series, Planescape Torment, Diablo series and many more. JRPG was one of my favorite genre back in the PS1 era. Suikoden, Xenogears, FF series, Crono Cross... but the gameplay has basically remains the same until now. i beg your differ but japan will not forget J-RPG I think for this generation, I've pretty much grew tired of the JPG's 'slow' gameplay. You are forced to watch the 'voiceless' dialouges, force to go a linear path and force to save at a save point. Without major breakthrough in JRPG gameplay formula, I think it will slowly be forgotten... until one day will risen again like a phoenix (hey, WRPG goes through the same period isn't it?). For this generation, there are four RPGS that I enjoy. Oblivion, Fallout 3, Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect. These four games have wasted more than 400 hours of my total life span. |

Games like Tales of (In japanese version)
THe trailer they are showing are most likely showing the seiyuus' (voice actror) voice of each character. all those seiyuu are from various of famous anime/game in japan. That's wad sold me of getting Japanese copy of JRPG. I have the japan copy of vesperia here and haven even gotten the console yet and also their battle system. you will see they only spend 20-30percent of the trailer telling us bout the stories. The rest is just voices and battle system. |
