They will bash you up kaw2.. Haha.. Just kidding.

Dont worry so much. Probably just a little bit of the so called "regimentation" treatment for you. Which is, according to them, to make you more disciplined, co-operate, blah..blah.. They will tell you they are doing it for your own good, instill good values in you, prepare you for tough conditions of working onboard and all those lame stuff. whistling.gif

The schedule will be very tight. Not enough rest and you will probably get sun burn. My face got so much darker that my mum couldnt even recognise me then. Not to worry though. One week is not such a long time.

My advise; just go with the flow people. And try to enjoy as much as you can. icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: And also, try not to expect the kind of orientation week you went through while in school, colleges, unis, etc.

MISC is a Malaysian company. Maersk is Danish.

Maersk does not sponsor ALAM cadets. Only MISC and other Malaysian shipping companies do.

Different companies, different pay, different working environment. Salary wise, of course Maersk is better. But it also comes with other kind of challenges that you wont find in Malaysian company. Both have pros and cons.

I dont really know much about Yayasan Sabah sponsored cadets, although there a few of them in my batch.

Dont worry much, just because you never heard of them before it does not mean they are not good. Even MISC, although they are the largest shipping company in Malaysia, that doesnt mean their pay is the best. From what I heard, even from MISC officers themselves, they say that other much smaller Malaysian shipping company pays are much better.

your sponsor is same like other sponsor such as felda n jpa.

the prob with gov sponsorship is that you need to find ship for ur shipboard training.

@maniac_rage

you're dme24 right? haha. i'm ur junior dme25. will be going for shipboard training this year.

btw, they've introduce demerit system. many were expelled becoz of this system. so, make sure u guys behave well.

compare to other shipping company, what is so bad about yayasan sabah ?

for MISC/AET's sponsorship, the contract takes about 15 years to end(say that if u took 10 years to achieve CoC...what if u didn't achieve COC in 10 years? it takes longer years then...18years ?20years?)...working for the same company for these much years..

i dont know about ur contract, but i guess it must be better than MISC or other shipping company based sponsor..
anyway, tell us about ur yayasan sabah contract...how long is the bond and what is the constraints etc...

the same thing happens to ALL poli students, since they have not sponsor to begin with .
but it also comes with big benefits, after graduated .. they have the chance to choose which company to work with ...including oversea's shpping company.

btw, i dont think it's very hard to get shipboard training ...as there is so many shipping companies...like finding the intern by ourselves...submit some paperwork...cv/resume .

what demerit system ? how it works?
so critical until it has caused many trainees have been expelled ? ...man it sounds so disciplined laugh.gif sweat.gif
