VGA cable question, why my HDTV canot display in vga mode

I just bought a Samsung 32" series 4 HDTV i hooked up my vga cable to the vga input of my HDTV there is no display and the HDTV gives a message unsupported video format ,whey is this happening can any 1 help me,running the console with the component HD cables no prob works fine.

just sold my 360,now planning to get jasper set,so looks like i dont have to make use of component or vga anymore,HDMI is the best.

im waiting for djin to get his hands on s'pore jaspers as the ones sold here are korean sets meaning warranty claims will be difficult unless u wana go to korea la
