Maybe it has something to do with your resolution setting or something. Try checking your manuals.

Choose the appropriate resolution from your pc based on your tv manuals. If none of them doesn't work, can't help you there.

As far as i know, playing console games using PC monitor requires VGA box / TV box or something like that.

What makes you think component is up scaled from 540p?
I have tested both VGA and component on my HDTV, they both looks pretty the same, but I prefer component because it offers more options to tune the color on my TV. Have you done some basic troubleshooting?: 1. Try connecting you PC to you new HDTV with VGA cable, if no display most likely your TV's VGA port is faulty 2. Try connecting your Xbox to your PC monitor, if no display most likely the VGA cable is faulty 3. If you can get display with your PC monitor, change the display settings in Xbox to 1360x768 then plug in your Xbox to your new HDTV |

Have you tried your VGA cable on a monitor first ?
but setting the resolution of 1368 x 786 and try it on your 32" LCD TV. |

err... I have used the vga cable on my 32" sharp LCD too. But, it only support 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768. I get blank screen with a message "video signals are out of sync" if I put it to 1280 x 720.
Try configure lower res on crt monitor 1st, then plug it on the LCD TV. I m sure all LCD TV which has a VGA input can support standard 640 x 480 mode. Then configure higher res on LCD TV to find out which is the highest res that your TV can support. |

I also heard some forumers said need to do some cutting at the port if you still want to use the original AV cable with HDMI. |
