As a wii owner i was expecting great things from the wii and have been dissapointed .. particularly to the amount of good games on it and of course the online play...
In my opinion the Wii's online play is utter crap... I have tried super smsh brothers brawl's online and have yet to even play a game as i keep getting disconnected from other players in the waiting room and as for mario kart wii it works well half the time but the connection often refuses to be stable and ends up getting me disconnected during a race , after it or again while waiting for a game to start .. as for other games i have yet to try ... any1 have their own opinions ?

Oh, pls dun compare Wii online with XBOX Live,
XBOX Live is way way way more superior.

That aside, the problem you encountered during online play should be your ISP / Internet connection problem,
if you are using Streamyx, you could be sure that the speed will be screwed most of the time.
I don't experience lag, and my DS, Wii and 360 online play don't drop like yours,
probably because I have 2 ISP, and I switched when 1 ISP slowed.

Secondly, Malaysia's location also play a part when u goes online,
that is especially true with XBOX Live, but it seems less obvious with my Wii (Not sure why),
that is the PING issues i am refering to. Too bad these cannot be changed by ourselves.

Also, pls check whether your Wii is located in a wireless Blind spot,
is there walls or blockages that reduce the wireless signal strength.
I tested the strength using my iPod Touch - by loading a YouTube video,
if my iPod refuse to load it - I am in a Blind Spot, (Again, I invented this, not sure it will work for u)
This is the way I located a good spot for my XBOX 360.

Sorry about that.....
But well, cause I game heavily on 360 and Wii, so that is why i say so....

Wii gaming online is rather limited, played Super Brawl,COD without lag and such, perhaps I have my wireless router less than 10 feet away plus make sure no one is hogging the line Bittorrent,Youtube, etc.Yet the experience is rather limited;no voice chat. I think the main strength of the Wii is that there's no need playing online when you've have friends, family near by to play 2,3-8 player mode in many of Wii games.
Being a couch potato,I've never had it better surfing for news, weather, watching Youtube.Using the Wiimote is much better that a mouse/keyboard combo when you have a big screen LCD.:)Tab browsing feature would be a killer.smile.gif

Thats right, i wonder why Tab browsing is not implemented on Wii.

Wii online might not have the fancy function like XBOX Live,
but it works fine for the most part.

Wiilcome to the Fwiicinating Wiirld of Wii!!!

The easiest way to get yourself online with Wii is to set up a wireless network at home,
and the Wii will detect the network with a few simple steps.

BUT, the quality of online play really rely on the ISP quality.
And Mario Kart Wii does have the best online option so far.
You already have a DS right? The Wii online mechanism won't be too different from the DS one.

The best thing available for Wii online is WiiWare and Virtual Console,
nothing came near to the quality of games it offered.
SONY and Microsoft is not even near Nintendo, when it came to Virtual Console.
WiiWare gave u a breath of great games, like LostWind and World of Goo.
Gotta try for yourself to find out.

Remember, when Wii ask u to select country, select BRAZIL (if u own a US Wii),
then u can use Malaysia Credit Card to purchase WiiPoint.

Hate to burst ur bubble but the virtual console feels like another emulator .. i mean i could play all those classics and more on a pc or a psp without paying for it .. although ill admit the wiiware games are pretty good..

Virtual Console is a legal and legitimate way to obtain classic games,
of course u could also do that on Emulator - But that is Piracy / Stealing.
That is against the law. If Nintendo care to sue, people could end up in jail.

Most of the case, the game many people emulate is not even abandon-ware.
