Yes. Vintage trems are notorious for going horribly out of tune when even slightly depressed.

Solution?

Floyd Rose.

Cons?

Re-tuning it is a real pain. Yes, you have to unlock the clips, but you also can slight-tune with the little adjustment knobs at the end of the trem. But yes, it's quite a pain to re-tune it if you need to.

yeah its like that if your trem isnt too good. im using a licensed floyd and it does run sometimes but its not too bad.

and yes, youe to unlock at the nut before you tune, else you're gonna snap the string at the peg and the nut laugh.gif

If you don't do dives on a double locking trem, it can stay in tune for months.

i think ori FR is around Rm700.

anyway, the trick is to make sure the string has stretched. what i do is:
1. tune normally with new strings.
2. stretch the strings and retune.
3. lock and fine tune
4. leave it for about 24 hours
5. play some full bends on several location of the frets.
6. unlock and repeat step 2-3 again.
7.????
8.profit!!! doh.gif

after that my guitar would stay in tune for weeks. it may still run off a bit, but not to the point where human ears can distinguish.

have you check the trem position? misalignment may contribute to tuning problem too. i heard the edge III trem isn't that good, but i don't think it's that bad though.

that is the cheaper floyd rose II with non-locking saddles.
weird that those non-locking saddles are still around, as they were actually put on a very cheap asian made floyd from back in the 80s.

guess this is a new hybrid of a floyd rose II with those saddles, dont bother wasting your money on them.

a proper schaller / floyd rose II with locking saddles will be RM700+.

nope, the one i saw is your standard original FR. i think the price is quite standard even for schallers too.

on the same note, anyone know the price of ibanez zero-point trem? can we actually buy it separately?

I've been looking for a ZR-Trem for awhile..... unless you buy an Ibanez S, it's very hard to find it as a loose piece. You might have better luck on eBay.
But I'm looking to buy an OFR to replace the one on my Razorback. Really isn't that fantastic.... goes out of tune (but then I REALLY abuse the trem), and right now, the trem bar doesn't lock/unlock properly.

yes, u have to unlock the nut clamp to re-tune ur guitar smile.gif

this is a normal issue. if u hardly use it, i recommend u to install tremol-no. if u're a hardcore tremolo user, upgrade a better trem smile.gif

The one rockok is selling is a very old (probably NOS) single locking schaller FRII
no locking saddles, so expect the tuning stability to be less steady than what you'd expect.

u obviously have not tried a original floyd rose yet, or seen a broken ibanez floyd yet.

the hardware quality is miles apart.

original floyd rose is pure stainless steel.
ibanez are hollow metal and have some weird filling in them.
they may have changed recently, but i doubt it.

No point to fit an OFR into your Ibanez. You're better off buying a new guitar.
