Yo everyone, long time never post here. Last week I went to Pet Family and saw lots of black, black banded, sable and umbrous golden syrians. Black is getting more common nowadays.

Please stop bathing your hamster like this anymore. If you like you can use a damp towel and gently wipe the body and fur, or use cornstarch then brush off and wipe with damp towel. I agree, it's animal abuse.
I've heard got ppl accidentally drowned their hamsters this way before. This post has been edited by Reanne: Jun 7 2009, 02:41 AM |

Lol, so it's a small bucket. But nonetheless, you shouldn't be bathing it with water and a hairdryer is kinda risky to use due to the heat unless it's got special settings or something. Cornstarch and damp towel/wipes or bathing sand is the most recommended way.
If your ham pee and poo in the toilet and sleep on it, you should sieve the sand out more often or remove the toilet as it's unhygienic. Even so, just clean the area with some water or use cornstarch if it's minor. If it were me I'd clean the toilet more frequently. This post has been edited by Reanne: Jun 7 2009, 02:54 AM |

True, it can be done from a distance with the heat setting. But there are some ppl that used hairdryer before and burnt the ears until it crisped and curled. Good that you know how to use it for the hamster. Lol, I know got hot and cool, but the hot is too hot, the cool is too cold unless like what you do, blow from a distance. Was meaning those RM400 to 500 hairdryers where got ionic, heatwave, cool shot functions, which I'm looking for btw.
Wah, 8 of them? Syrian or ww? This post has been edited by Reanne: Jun 7 2009, 03:05 AM |

Mealworms and crickets are good sources of protein but it's not necessary if you really can't bear with feeding insects. Hard-boiled egg white, plain soft tofu, boiled chicken and bone are all good substitutes. You can also play around with their treats to make things interesting. You can chop some carrot, tofu and egg white into half inch cubes then coat them with wheatgerm before serving. My gerbils like these, but I used to serve these to my hams last time. Sprouts are very nutritious.
