Guys please don't bathe your hamsters. If you remember from the last V, someone tried to bathe 2 of his robos and 1 ended up drowning. They will panic when they're in water an will flip over, etc etc. It is NOT natural for them to take baths. When it rains they hide out in their burrows.

Another thing, human soap is made and manifactured for human skin. Human skin and hamster skin have different sensitivity. Our soap may feel very abbrasive for them. And if I'm not wrong bathing your hamster will strip the fur of its natural oils so when it looks fluffy, it's actually just dry.

smile.gif for dwarves, sand bath is more than sufficient to kep them smellingnice and have smoothfur. Syrians groom very often and are very clean and don't need baths.

So please don't bathe your hamsters ok?

sad.gif RIP to sam sam.

Odd_mochi. don't give too much cabbage. the cabbage family gives hamsters a lot of gas if fed too much.

hi imperialacs. well, you shouldn't mix the male and female EVER unless you wanna breed again. and definitely never mix the sons with the mum or the daughter with the father to avoid inbreeding.

Depending on the breed of your hamster, you may have to house them seperately. For example, syrians must be housed all separately.

If it's been 1 month, their fur should have more or less grown in ma. smile.gif Try to chaange their food to something more nutritious than habitrail since now they're in their growth period. Try Prestige or Harry hamster with fruits and vegetables. Sometimes cn offer protein like tau foo or mealworms. Or I usually give egg white.

sophie, i read before that a hamster who yawns is a happy hamster. it's relax enough to release a yawn. so supposingly, a hamster who yawns a lot is happy and contented.

petshop hamsters are like that. they're afraid that other hamsters are out there to kill them. they're very wary. my ferro's a light sleeper. my roche who's home bred, sleeps like a dead dog. lol.

never bathe a hamster with water. for dwarves, use bathing sand. for syrians, no need anything o. they clean themselves just fine.

i suggest 2 ft tank. habitrail safari is still kinda small for them lo. happy.gif looking forward to see your "seekor". biggrin.gif

yes you need to put a container for them to use bathing sand. I suggest a heavy based bowl la. tongue.gif i used plastic container once cuz i haven't bought the bowl, so many years ago. wasted so much sand cuz they knock over the container.
