It doesn't point to any specific platform page, except maybe it looked up the cookies stored during your previous visit.

Maybe you can clear up the cookies and retry.

the change log posted by TS is the change log from
v14.0.5027.908 to v14.0.8050.1202

I'm using Safari on my MacBook.

It's newer version (maybe it may look the same) but maybe some bugs may've been ironed out.

Ever since I downloaded and install this version of Windows Live Messenger, I'm unable to log in with an error message:
I'll post a screenshot if needed, before I downloaded and installed WLM (latest version), everything was fine. Please help me out here, thanks in advance.

do you have any error code with that msg?

e.g. 81000314?

if u got the error code above, try this:

Goto Start > Run and type "regsvr32 softpub.dll" without the quotes, then hit ok

Added on December 16, 2008, 3:46 pmanother solution is this:

Open with Notepad --> C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

Add these 2 lines to the bottom:

65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
65.54.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.akadns.net

Make sure you remove it after 2 days time though as this is just a temporary solution.

Save it and restart msn, should work ok.


If still not working, edit C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.msn.


Best solution is to try again later as probably tons of ppl logging in with the new version causing network congestion

If you're using beta/loggged in as beta, go to ideas.live.com and if you're not already, sign in. There should be a link at the top saying what betas you are in, click on Windows Live Messenger, then on the right is another link that says 'Leave this beta'. Click that.

Update regarding my problem:
I followed this method from this link in Vista and it worked, thank you so much. However, when I tried the method from the same link that worked in Vista, it didn't work in XP. In fact, I tried all links and all methods in XP but to no avail.

I get Windows Live Communication Platform error 5 sec after I login

Installed and it's quite nice. But 1 problem, messenger plus cant seems to load. So it's not compatible with messenger plus????

It works in all my computers in XP or Vista OSes. I'd to add WLM to my Norton IS '09, "allowed program list". Also must add to ZoneAlarm Firewall Pro, "trusted program list".

Uninstall the Live messenger 2009 and Install .msi file if the exe is not working well.

It has better connection than 8.5, coz 8.5 always disconnects

I doubt versions have differences in disconnecting. IMHO, I never DCed in MSN before but my contacts always do and it's damn annoying.

Please list a bug that you encounter in this version cause AFAIK, neither have I encountered a bug.

oh BTW again, WLM is part of MS' strategy as part of Microsoft's Windows Live effort, which rebranded many existing MSN services and programs and is to be unified with the other Windows Live programs and Microsoft Office programs.

I have a problem with WLM 2009.

When I click on the mail icon, it directs me to msn.com, it doesn't automatically signs in to hotmail for me. (I think now it opens in your default browser instead in Internet Explorer now.)

Is there a way for it to automatically sign in to hotmail when I click the email icon in WLM2009?

So far, I don't encounter any bugs. Remember to uninstall any previous versions of MSN/WLM completely before installing this versions!

used d online installer and installed wlm 2009 and mail..

keep failing to sign, saying dat can get contact list...
finally, manage to sign in after more than half an hour of retry....

nice features... i like the sound "cafe in paris"

used it for almost few days already..so far doesn't give me any problem...quite stable though
