TechnoDude94, that's the official, generic link.

It doesn't point to any specific platform page, except maybe it looked up the cookies stored during your previous visit.

Maybe you can clear up the cookies and retry.

do you have any error code with that msg?

e.g. 81000314?

if u got the error code above, try this:

Goto Start > Run and type "regsvr32 softpub.dll" without the quotes, then hit ok

Added on December 16, 2008, 3:46 pmanother solution is this:

Open with Notepad --> C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

Add these 2 lines to the bottom:

65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
65.54.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.akadns.net

Make sure you remove it after 2 days time though as this is just a temporary solution.

Save it and restart msn, should work ok.

If still not working, edit C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.msn.

Best solution is to try again later as probably tons of ppl logging in with the new version causing network congestion wink.gif

Darn it, I installed it in all my computers and in the end I can't chat for 1 day through WLM in Windows. My error code is 8100030d. However, I can login and chat through MSN in my MacBook (Mac). Please help me, thanks in advance.

If you're using beta/loggged in as beta, go to ideas.live.com and if you're not already, sign in. There should be a link at the top saying what betas you are in, click on Windows Live Messenger, then on the right is another link that says 'Leave this beta'. Click that.

Installing/uninstalling Windows Live 2009 (Wave 3) Release Candidate applications

This site lists all Windows Live Suite 2009 “Wave 3” applications, a download link to the Microsoft Installer (MSI) file, what’s also necessary to install each application and a method to properly remove each without the Windows Live installer. This allows you to install on non-supported Windows versions (Windows XP x64), fix broken Windows Live Installer installs or just to avoid the Live Installer altogether.

Get them here!

chill out, TD94 wink.gif

too bad that this fella's 1st post = 0 meaning...

@coolmilo, read post #43 above if you want the 'smaller' portion. Use at your own risk, as usual.

oh BTW, this thread is about sharing utilities/apps and help out others ... use it if you like it, else leave it. WLM is from Microsoft, so maybe you can ask MS to make their new WLM smaller? {{guess not}}

oh BTW again, WLM is part of MS' strategy as part of Microsoft's Windows Live effort, which rebranded many existing MSN services and programs and is to be unified with the other Windows Live programs and Microsoft Office programs.

hint for you: Cloud computing

A few confused Messers have notified me of the release of "the final version" of Windows Live Messenger 2009 as hinted by Steve Ballmer at CES, Las Vegas.

However, the build (14.0.8050.1202) that currently comes with the Windows Live Essentials installer is the same as the one from the beta refresh mid-December. Same features, same bugs, so there's no need to update.

Would be good if we can use third party themes. How do we remove the window frame by the way?

Enable/Disable Aero Border Frame in Windows Live MSN Messenger

The ZIP package contains Disable-WLMessenger-Aero-Frame.reg and Enable-WLMessenger-Aero-Frame.reg files.

To disable the new Aero style WLM, double click on Disable-WLMessenger-Aero-Frame.reg to return to classic legacy Windows Live Messenger view with no Aero Frame.
To restore to Windows Aero layout with partially transparent border frame, double click on Enable-WLMessenger-Aero-Frame.reg instead.

Note: When system prompts a warning, click on Yes to continue.

Close and open Windows Live Messenger windows to see the new layout style.

Microsoft today started forcing users of the first public Windows Live Messenger 2009 Beta to upgrade to last month's Release Candidate (v14.0.8050.1202).

Plus! users will find that the add-on is incompatible with this build, but Patchou has let us know he's releasing a public beta of Messenger Plus! Live 4.80 tomorrow that will work with the RC!

The final version of Messenger Plus! Live 4.80 will be released in about two weeks and thanks to Patchou going through a few hoops, it will still support skins!

it's scattered all over the net. as long as it works and from MS, don't worry about it (except for its huge file size!) biggrin.gif

**UPDATE**

Thanks to GuyverTM, i've updated the 1st post with the latest direct links from MS.

If you have previously download the RC, don't bother download again because MS just elevated the RC -> Final only.

Size still the same fat installer. Version # still the same. Therefore bugs/problems still the same as RC rclxub.gif
