turntable = vinyl/record player ... (* the piriing hitam music player ... those olden days*)

the turntable is connected to the usb soundcard which is connect to the laptop/notebook/netbook which enable me to control mp3 on the software(mixvibes) ... i can slow my music down or speed up the music by moving the TimeCode vinyl fast or slow ...on my turntable and the netbook/notebook/laptop will move according .... all this moving fast and slow need some computer power and ASUS EEEPC 1000H has no problem with that

I tried running PCDJ Dex on the Wind, but the screen size sucks. Still haven't bought a timecode vinyl for my decks yet though.....

so i think my earlier question still valid, how you connect your turntable to your usb soundcard? midi in, mic in or line in?

hmm.. i gotta think back which is the best way for me..
the reason i wanted to go for the netbook way is portability. i usually bring my guitar, effects & keyboard to the jamming session which is quite troublesome. thus initially my idea is to leave the effects & keyboard behind & bring a smaller midi controller & laptop. my second option is get myself a smaller keyboard, & eliminate the need for a laptop altogether. what do you all think?

why you suddenly interested in DJ stuffs? doh.gif

if you're into live performance, get a smaller keyboard, don't rely on a laptop. laptop will never provide the same reliability as hardware effect unit and a keyboard. laptop can go overheat, system crash, RAM unstable, some programs causing system stuttering, harddisk can go failure out of a sudden.

unless, you know your laptop really well. try to avoid extra programs like antivirus and stuffs like that. i know, you want a laptop that you can enjoy anytime and yet want to use it for performance, but you gotta be careful alright.

also bear in mind that your soundcard have to be able to operate in low latency (for live performance, 256 buffer is minimum, best is 128 buffer), and will cost a bomb on CPU processing. but good thing is you can record your stuffs at the same time.

think about it.

no i'm not interested in DJ stuff. i just want to learn all these interconnection things

Added on December 23, 2008, 9:02 ami found out that many people have successfully run their audio thing on eeepc. more info at http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/ so i guess i'll get on to try out wink.gif
