yesterday, i went to honda showroom to look for the new honda city. wow! the car looks stylish and elegant. it uses 1.5 i-vtec engine which is same as jazz model. 120ps and 174 nm of torque is excellent enough for 1.5 litre. it also has 5-speed auto transmission which is first in its class. if we look at vios(current model), vvti engine only generate 109ps and 171nm of torque. what a weak engine! even suzuki swift has 110 ps. the situation become more worse whwn vios has only 4-speed auto which is same as proton waja cps gearbox!

I hate to dissapoint u but dont judge the engine by its specs. The civic may have more HP than the vios but dont forget the city still uses SOHC via the waja CPS or the vios is a DOHC engine. I test drove the new city and i not impressed with the low rpm, in which it needs more torque.
*
however, i think the new city saves fuel more than vios as it is 5 speed automatic right? and when i read autocar magazine, new city only takes 9.8 seconds 0-100km/h..but my cousin say that his vios take 10.++ to reach 100km/h. this shows that i-vtec engine is more powerful than old vvti engine. the icing on the cake, if we look at the dimensions, all new city is more taller ang longer than vios

We know you own an Accord and like it very much. But why'd you keep asking people to buy Accord and support PMM? Since everyone got their own taste and own needs. They'll buy a car that suits their own, and colour that they like of course.
*
I you must book the new accord. as you can see accord has 156ps and 189 nm of torque. while camry only has 148ps and 190 nm of torque. besides, accord has 5 speed auto while camry still wearing 4 speed auto which is same as proton perdana. accord also equipped with shift hold control and it is very useful to overtake the car in front of you. accord uses double wishbone suspensions front and rear which is same as merc and ferrari which deliver more grips to the tires. on the other hand camry only wear mac pherson suspension which is same as the OLD PROTON WIRA! the icing on the cake, honda accord is far more bigger than camry and its has less ground clearance than camry which helps to provide more grips to take tight corners at high speed. thumbup.gif

I just went to Honda showroom today for second time. When i ask about the difference of gear knob between E spec and S spec, he seems like don know. Can i know, according to the leaflet izzit E spec will come with leather in the gear knob?? But when i see in E spec it seems like same as S spec!!!
*
i have test drive the new city. yes, e spec has leather gear knob. i have touch it and scratch it. i can feel the leather. but when i scratch the s spec gear knob, it make krack sound whic proves that e spec has leather gear knob while s spec has plastic gear knob. there is a different you know..maybe you have make a wrong judgement about that.

Which color should i go for???

I had just booked the new honda city but still confused whether which color should i go for.  rclxub.gif Personally i think black will be very stylish and cool but everyone around me keep telling me to opt for polished metal metallic or else i would regret later. hmm... for me, polished metal metallic is a nice color too.
I couldn't make a finalise desicion!! ARGHH!!!!~~~ Could anybody give me some suggestions?? Thanks in advance.  biggrin.gif

i think asm(silver) is stylish because the car looks bigger in that colour. furthermore, city has black colour headlamp. so, the lamp can be seen clearly when the body is silver in colour. but, black colour looks more aggresive and provides more sporty elements.however, if you do not like to wash your car, better go for asm because dirty stains can be seen easily on the black especially after raining cats and dogs.

Just for your info.....

Why you should buy Honda Accord 2.0 instead of Toyota Camry 2.0.

1. Newly developed and environmental friendly 2.0 sohc engine which produce 156
ps and 189nm of torque (estimated added cost = RM5000.00) while camry still
using the old version engine (to cut cost) with 148ps and 190 nm of torque.

2. Newly developed highly efficient 5 speed automatic gearbox (estimated
added cost = RM5000.00). Camry still use the old version 4 speed automatic
gearbox (to cut cost). New honda city is already 5 speed.

3. Variable gear ratio steering system (VGR) to enhance low and high speed
steering control (estimated additional cost = RM1000.00). Camry still using
conventional steering system (to cut cost again).

4. SHIFT HOLD CONTROL to reduce unnecessary gear change during conering.

5. Double wishbone front and rear suspension for better grip during hard
cornering (estimated added cost = RM5000.00). Double wishbone suspension is
normally used by high performance and expensive car such as Mercedes,
Ferrari, new 7 series, Audi and many more. Camry still using Mac pherson strut
suspension (to cut cost) that normally used by low end car e.g our national car,
Nissan, Kia, Hyundai, Mazda etc.

6. Accord is more spacious, length 4945mm (Camry only 4825mm), width
1845mm (Camry only 1820mm), height 1475mm (Camry only 1470), longer
wheelbase 2800mm (Camry 2775mm) and lower ground clearence for better
stability 145mm (Camry 150mm).

7. Accord suspension is tuned for both comfort and handling while Camry
suspension is tuned for confort only (soft spring).

8. Accord 2.0 OTR price should be at least RM15,000.00 higher than the current
price if we consider the above additional cost above.

Think again......

just to change topic. because clearly city is better than vios. nothing much to say about that.

Added on December 26, 2008, 11:05 pmanyway, lets talk about city against vios. new city comes with 120ps and 174nm of torque. while vios with its vvti DOHC ONLY PROVIDES 109PS AND 171NM OF TORQUE. cry.gif CITY HAS 5 SPEED AUTO WHICH SAVES MORE FUEL. vios only uses 4 speed auto( same as national car) City has shift hold control, 4 reverse sensor and USB PORT icon_rolleyes.gif VIOS ONLY HAS 2 REVERSE SENSOR BUT NO USB PORT. CITY IS FAR MORE BIGGER THAN VIOS! CITY IS 95MM LONGER THAN VIOS, 15 MM WIDER THAN VIOS AND 10MM HIGHER THAN VIOS. THE ICING ON THE CAKE, CITY WEARS 16 INCH WHEEL WHILE VIOS ONLY WEARS 15 INCH WHEEL.

today i went for test drive again, but now at damansara Honda showroom.. today i 'lanyak' the city like it belongs to nobody.. and i can say my vios J is far more powerful. I'm not trying to be bias, since i also order the city, but seriously, the city pickup is so poor compared to vios... and that's with my vios with has full bodykit and 17" rim..

but no doubt, the only good thing about the city is the look. exterior and interior. exterior city is way better than vios. for the interior in terms of quality is the same, but City is more elegant and modern, while vios is classy and simple.

i've make a deal with my gf, once i get the city, she'll use my vios and i gonna use the city tongue.gif her CPS.. ermmm stay in garage laa..

and i cant see the advantage of technical specs.. 120ps vs 109ps..  the performance of engine is not just bcoz of ps.. or torque.. there's a lot of other things contribute to smoother and powerful drive. just look at last time amd 64 x2 vs pentium D .. low clockspeed vs high clockspeed.. but intel pentium D is much slower than the amd 64 x2..  biggrin.gif

and with vios J priced at 73k, u can buy a pioneer touch screen radio with mp3, usb, for around rm3k++ , ur own choice of rims for about rm3k.. total rm76k..

but tbh, with city at 84-89k, the only worthy vios to buy is the J spec biggrin.gif
*
however 'DUGONG CAR' still has a dugong look. rclxm9.gif I wonder..why toyota always use animal as their icon. VIOS LOOKS LIKE DUGONG. ALTIS LOOKS LIKE CAT FISH. CAMRY LOOKS LIKE COW NOSE. rclxms.gif

You go and test drive 1st lah! 120 ps on paper means nothing when it feels way less powerful when u actually DRIVE the car.

Vios may have 109 ps but it feels so much more powerful when u actually drive it.DOHC makes so much difference.

Besides,16 inches will make your fuel consumption higher dude.

I hate CITY for its noisy engine and lousy comfort. But the worst thing about CITY is why in world they make the boot so big??!!

The space could have been used to give the rear passengers more space.

But I also hate VIos for its DUGONG looks and small seats.
*
city less comfort? comfort is not a miracle thing la. toyota just uses soft springs, shock absobers and suspension bushing for toyota vios that all. anycar can do that. but honda does NOT want its car to be too comfort(lembut) as they want their car to be in moderate condition. (sporty and comfort(not so lembut like vios) ).i have test drive the car. CITY USES SINGLE OVERHEAD CAM. that means city saves more fuel. AND EVENTHOUGH IT USES SOHC, I-VTEC CAN STILL BEAT VVTI(DOCH) IN HORSEPOWER AND TORQUE. cry.gif

PMM is not a boring colour. The boring colour is what you see in the showroom. Try to bake under the sun and view it again. It'll be another colour. Then at night, try to see it again. What I can say is it's a multiple tones.
Wah steady, welcome to the family. LOL nod.gif
*
PMM is a wonderful colour. but i want to book ALABASTER SILVER since it does not look "mudah kotor" especially after drizzling. it contrast with the colour of the front grille and headlamp too. icon_rolleyes.gif blue is alright. different from other car on the road nod.gif

If I am not mistaken from what I read from the latest issue of Motor Trader it's also written there that Honda is planning to make 1.5k sets per month  rclxms.gif

Just came back from my Christmas trip to Singapore and the thread has spread more than 10 pages. Anyway since quite a few people did mention about the new city price in SG is expensive I think the only reason is Honda doesn't really care about the sales in SG.

What makes me say so is from what I observe in these 4 days in the ratio of 10 cars per model it'll be like 10 subaru, 9 lancer, 9 sonata, 8 lexus, 7 camry, 6 jazz, 5 vios, 5 wish, 5 estima, 4 civic, AMAZINGLY 3 LAMBO, 2 latest GTR, 1 accord, 1 city.

It seems like people in SG buy subaru like buying proton for us only while Toyota and Mitsubishi is their priority and yeah I only manage to see one Honda City and one Honda Accord in 4 days and yes I was out on the street all day long  wink.gif
*
BUT IF YOU READ AUTOCAR MAGAZINE NOVEMBER 2008, CAR SALES IN SINGAPORE FROM JANUARY TO SEPTEMBER 2008, HONDA IS NO. 1 (18,944), TOYOTA(INCLUDE LEXUS) NO.2 (18,757), MITSUBISHI NO. 3 (5568), NISSAN NO.4 (4697), MERC NO. 5 (3214), BMW NO. 6 (3091), MAZDA AND SUBARU EQUAL NO.7 (2618), SUZUKI NO. 8 (2612), HYUNDAI NO.9 (2546),

the car has ultrasonic motion sensor. if you lock the car with opened window and someone enter your car through the window, alarm will activated. same like ACCORD. thumbup.gif
