My basic degree is BSc.Biomedicine (Hons) from MSU, Shah Alam. I joined Grad-entry MBBS in India under the MSU-IMS collaboration program with M.S Ramaiah Medical College in Bangalore. Total duration including a compulsory 1 year internship in India amounts to 4.5 years of study, only then the MBBS degree will be awarded.
The syllabus is packed with extra classes.
Subjects during my point of entry (MBBS, Phase II part-1) include: Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Pharmacology, Community Medicine, Medicine and Surgery. Additional classes in anatomy and physiology are given to further strengthen the basic knowledge in the mentioned subjects.
In India as told by my Professors, medical students are required to go, learn and do physical examinations on patients under the lecturer's supervision in the hospital starting from 2nd year as opposed to other medical program around the world which usually allows student to go to the hospital in 3rd year.
In my case, the students are required to practice history taking and basic physical examinations on patients in the hospital (especially in the Outpatient department) under the instruction and supervision of the lecturer.
The advantage of owning a BSc.Biomedicine / BSc.Biomedical Science qualification is having the suitable foundation to continue study in medicine / pharmacy / dentistry in graduate entry programs.

Some of my BSc.Biomedicine batch mates have also entered AIMST and Cyberjaya medical college, but then they have to join the normal 5 years program. Some have also went to do a 4-years Grad-entry medicine (MD) in Poland under MSU-ISEP program.

Otherwise, if you decided not to further your studies, you can choose a variety of health-care related jobs, eg; Medical Lab Tech, Lecturer for DMLT students, Medical Underwriter, Medical Sales Representative, Science officer U41 (Gov.Service), Misc. job in Pharmaceutical industry and so on.

Em..May i know ur MBBS taken in india is recognized by Malaysia Government or not?
If it is not recognized by the government,is that means u can't work in government hospital?

biomed grad can't become a pharmacist. pharmacist needs to be licensed.
anyway, science is a broad field, there are many different career path beside just lab and underwriter.
you can always look into jobstreet or newspaper and see what type of job is available out there.
and don't restrict yourself either, just because you are a science graduate, doesn't means you can't get into job in business field.
if you really wanted to be in science field, there are pharmaceutical sales, medical lab equipment sales, product specialist, quality assurance, research & development n etc.
btw, i'm a biomedical graduate and now i'm in medical software engineering field.
wether to take mbbs or retake pharmacy, that really depends on what you what. have you thought of that? what type of career are you looking for?

yupe, i ever thought of that. Because i really don't know what secure job that i can actually do with a degree of biomed science in malaysia.
Many biomed grads end up as salesman, if not then further their postgrad.
For me, if want to further master, someone shouldn't just stop at the level of master, but have to continue at least to phd. Because only with phd then someone can be a uni lecturer. No point to stop at master level only.
How long would it takes to get a phd? For me, to get a phd, it really .. a long long long and hard hard hard journey.. i don't think i can cope with it.
May i know that u were biomed science or biomed engineering grad?
if u were biomed science grad, how could u involve in engineering field right now?
