It seems like Machines had updated the Xmas sales free gifts.. now they are giving additional 2GB RAM free.. MachinesClearly they are not aware of the 4GB problem with the Unibody Macbook.. Quoted from Engadget.com

QUOTE(neekun @ Dec 14 2008, 08:39 AM) Please be noted that the 2GB given by Machines..meaning they will take out a stick of 1GB from the Mac. So in total you only get 3GB RAM (2GB + 1GB ..2 slots). The ad is very misleading then.. but that also means Apple acknowledge the problem of 4GB RAM in the new unibody Macbook

I just bought the MB yesterday.. I have a noob question.. I've tried playing a DVD but when I insert in the MB, it prompts me to select the region. And it also says that there you are only allowed to change the region for 5 times. What does it mean then? Is there a way to play the DVD without changing any region? or is there a region which is universal for all types of DVD? By the way, the DVD I'm playing is an original DVD.

QUOTE(ff8ong @ Dec 26 2008, 01:52 PM) I thought just choose our own country region will do....Only set once and next time you insect any disc,it won't appear anymore. I've heard of this region stuff when I was using Windows previously. It's something to do with the piracy thinggy.. So, if you choose for example Asia Region then the next time when you try to play a DVD which is from a US Region, the same problem will pop up. If we keep changing the regions (you are only allowed 5 times), then I guess by the 6th time, you will not be allowed to change anymore which means you can't really play. I will try the VLC player as suggested by kwekeugene

I've been using the MB for a week.. I should say that the thing that I love the most for the moment is the touchpad. I mean the multitouch.. for the 1st time, I would prefer the touchpad rather than an external mouse anybody else agree? ------------------- There is this "Send Registration" in my HDD folder. What does it actually do? or what is actually the benefits? Do anyone actually register?

QUOTE(Edoras @ Jan 1 2009, 10:22 AM) Yes, I definitely agreed! Much easier to use as compared to my Wireless Mighty Mouse... Hopefully Apple can create more functions with the multitouch pad.. This post has been edited by Superman7: Jan 2 2009, 02:37 PM

QUOTE(Edoras @ Jan 2 2009, 02:31 PM) Weird, I switch on and off the power supply and its back charging till 100% (unlike the one previously)... I'm having the same thing... I observed that when you have 100% charged MB then you switched it OFF and the following time when you switch it ON, the percentage will drop to 99% but the battery will not be charged to 100%. It will show that the battery is already charged. At the moment, my indicator shows 96% and it shows that "Battery is charged". I guess in order to charge it back to 100%, you will have to somehow drain the battery to a certain percentage first, then recharge the battery.

QUOTE(BlueBerry~ @ Jan 6 2009, 10:36 PM) Dont be like that bar. New user. It thought its like the wii like that. Would suck in the disc after you insert it a certain amount. No, it won't suck like the slot drive of a normal notebook.. for the MB, you will need to push the CD almost to the very end before it loads..

QUOTE(rip_code @ Jan 11 2009, 03:47 AM) I have bad connection with uTorrent. Can't even download at all. Port forward seems all done but still not working. Discover that certain users had this problem too. They did mention "Transmission" apps for Torrent. I download it and try, walla! everything seems fast. I think there's a problem with beta uTorrent. Why don't you give a try on Transmission. what speed are you getting on your Transmission? I managed to get about 45kB/s on uTorrent.. but when I was on Windows, I could choke up to max of 150kB/s.. QUOTE(BlueBerry~ @ Jan 11 2009, 04:53 PM) Is it wise to charge the MBP while using it? I'm always with the AC adapter when I'm using the MB. Unless I really need to use it out of my house..

QUOTE(allvin @ Jan 12 2009, 11:36 AM) hmm 20-40kbps is my normal speed. due to screamyx, that why i seldom use torrent. normally use rs 20~40kB/s seems to be very slow.. I could easily get 100kB/s when I was using Windows.. not sure why problems with Mac OSX. Probably due to the firewall settings?

QUOTE(myxery @ Jan 15 2009, 10:18 AM) *.zip files are automatically extracted upon completion of download but for *.rar files u need UnrarX Regarding .rar or .zip files, is there a program to view the content before extracting? In Windows, I use winrar to open the .rar files and select only the file I wanted to extract and then drag & drop on my desktop. Is there such a software in Mac which is capable of doing so?
