My Machine seems to have different "improvement" then last nite situation.

Now when i boot into the machine, i see a flashy folder with question mark.
What's now?

Now i got to say Mac OS X stability is incredible sux compare to XP.

Overhyped i was in Mac OS X.. darnit..i feel "stunned" and cheated by tos fancy advetisement from the apple.com. Now i spent more TIMES to fix the OS then working on my personal stuff.

I wil neva say to anyone Mac OS X is superb stable forever. I dun even dare to tell people to buy Mac product for flexibility working environment.

Mac OS X did have its powerful moment but that is for multi-tasking working routine.

This shouldn't be happend as one OS that live so long years. Now i having doubt with the reliability in Mac OS . It is utterly dissapointed~.

Just only 2nd weeks, it give me this creep & nonsense damage.

Haih... invest so much for a silly OS.. (The hardware is cool still.haha)

The Disk Warrior is going to take me long time to download.

Sue me anyone if you like to. Don't ever think Mac OS X is super stable cuz it can fail to BOOT anytime!!!

I goin to have this backup dilemma if This OS gonna works like this way once a while. Creepy...


Why the Mac OS X DVD cannot fix this situation? Even the "low-end" XP installer got this simple repair procedure.

Just left ur mb turn on within this 14 days. Play hardcore games all the way until the suffer to death screen.. haha

my mbp died within 14 days.. So, test kao kao while under 1 year warranty.

damn how come u have 14 days return period. Mine failed on 13th day, they refused for 1 to 1 exchange still.

Msia should be 7 days grace period, i guess.

How can you think like that way? USer like me?! Push the limit?!

Some people having machine to turn on overnight. .If this machine can survive more than 2 or 3 days without shutting down. For safety purpose we should have a cooling system with the machine or a cooling environment.

You may ask around lotsa peoples don't even turn off their machine within weeks or months. I am living with these friends who own Acer laptop with no air-con condition or cooler in the house.

Surprise or not?! up to you..

So 14 days of under-torturing for Mac product is really HUGE sympathy to it so much.

Anyway, my case is very rare. I don't have the chance to FULL-TIME gaming at all. I got less than 2 hours gaming experience with it. I just installed and check on Gfx then off the game. I got not much time for gaming since i was/am rushing my work.

Most of the time, i just spent for surfing net & working on photoshop. I don't even overnight with it cuz i wanted to protect it.
i never treated something so protective for my life before.

Now. i have to readjust my attitude. Since Apple failed me first.

A heavy test like that is to confirm the machine can survice for longer months after that.

Why i always feel these so called experience apple users like to lecturing people who are new in Mac? We are new in Mac but we ain't new in COMPUTERS.. I still know the basic rules to protect computers/laptop.


For instance, I had friend finished tons of intensive latest gfx games in unibody MB within months.

Generally, people getting laptop is to use it frequently just like handphone.

You think we just left laptop there and for emergency purpose?!

If BMW, i will just call to the company instead of sharing details here.

just to let you know i don't EVEN left my laptop goes into SLEEP MODE. i just Turn it off.
Plug out from Power Adapter when i am not using it before ridiculous things could happend.

i have this dilemma of thunderstrike will damage my computers what if i am not at home. I am a cautious computer user since i encountered this situation before.

A heavy test is to make owner happy with their machine performance. THey are many types of heavy tasks. WHat i suggested are pretty common routines that happend to any laptop users.

I don't think i am that mean to a machine. i guess.

Don't question me, ask peoples surrounding you.
I bet youself ever overnight your laptop before?! If you never, there are more peoples done it before you.

Laptop becomes most people MAIN working/gaming machine nowadays.

Anyway, i will not said majority products in Apple will failed you. (this mbp is just a heavy lesson to me. I am in a moderate usage, consider unacceptable consequence in what happend to this machine. Even the staff also in confusion, i wasn;t not the only one who had this shock.)

I just suggested how to test you machine before everything its TOO LATE. for 1 to 1 replacement.

I have apple ipods which neva failed me for years.

I just hope you could quit saying nicer word for Apple even though you haf great experience with it for years.

SHaring information to people in how to test their machine in a proper way will be more appreciate. Or proper way to prevent unnecessary damage like never remove your battery pack while using the laptop.

Just wondering anyone here left their machine overnight in Bootcamp mode?

What is the recommend setting for bootcamp , Hibernate or standby?

Normally the next day i open the lid. I have to restart the OS if i left it as Bootcamp.

Mac OS X is just fine to instantly get back to desktop.

One more strange thing to me about the webcam on mbp, when i cover the webcam. The whole LCD goes dimmer slowly. It happends too when you gently press on the webcam black frame.

Why is this so? Normal situation?!.No idea with the purpose of such "feature".

When you said don't close the lid when laptop still running.

Does it means have to make LCD goes sleep or standby mode before shut down the lid?

Prevent directly close the lid without the above steps?

it cost kinda ridiculous for a two half hemisphere to me.. it does looks like plastic material to me only.

is there similar product but with usb fan which can blow away the heat..

I felt weird with bootcamp reliability still.

Is Bootcamp an emulator to allow us install XP/Vista exactly like what we used to have from PC?

(Sorry i don't even know should i use 'emulator' to describe Bootcamp).

After i installed bootcamp with XP, i feel sometimes it is not exactly to operate like normal PC's XP/Vista.

Like missing driver or incompatible driver. Or need patches to fix the bootcamp still.

I had encounter a few issues within games & applications. Latest itunes couldn't launched. It will crashed instantly. I tried the clean deletion of itunes through registry & reinstall. It failed too.

After Effects CS4 - failed to launch too.

Games like Crysis & Dead Space avoid touching the mouse pad. It will mute the sound first. Then a few touches more, the game will crash or hang the machine.

Btw, those applications & games installer above works as a charm in normal PC.

i have issue to use Adium and MSN in Mac oS X.
Adium is difficult to login.

MSN- can login but will disconnect in a while.. Very unstable and keep disconnect.

I used Onyx to do cleanup. And Restart the machine. It doesn't work stable still.

Only when i use Bootcamp WLM in XP, everything is fine. But i want to prevent using XP. It heats up too fast.

SO, the bandwidth is not the issue here.

I encountered the pop sound while using trackpad mostly in bootcamp XP before i sent to repair.

THe guy said my machine had been exchange motherboard twice.

Now i don't have this issue while using trackpad inside bootcamp.

But the trackpad will kill the sound while inside certain games like dead space & crysis. It can cause the machine freeze.

Waiting for a trackpad updates in bootcamp.

My Trackpad in Mac oS X is fine.

i only using this tool. It is like CCleaner from windows.

you need create a partition from the Utilities>Disk Utilities>Partition in Mac OS X.

After you create a new empty space from your HDD.

You will ask to insert the XP CD Installer. Make sure you read the bootcamp pdf.
PDF will be placed on the desktop during the procedure.

You may check youtube videos tutorial for more details.

last week i check like 13 cycles... just now i checked suddenly pushed up until 23 cycles.... Gosh...

I also don't really playing games in XP so often.. Perhaps the superheat make me paranoid to damage this machine.

I spent more time in doing work,music,surfing in Mac os X.

never trust the apple website claimed how long their batt life can last.

Best is to read some review from tester or consumer.

MBP the best i can get is 3hours, 9400M GPU mode...
one bar brightness..
using earphone.

Keep charging the batt. you will get 100% in one day... It is normal.

When i clicked to install. It showed unnecessary to update.

If i am using the latest update, the "About" will showing May of year 2009 instead of year 2007, rite?

i always wrapped the cable around the adapter...

Mostly i did this it spoilt my earphones. Wrapped around the gadget..haha.

This is a big NO NO way to keep stuff, rite?

Now i need to switch off the machine. It seems i am risky the machine if i left it on for days.

Even sleeping mode is not a safety situation to do in leaving the machine turn on for days?!
