Because Sony flash is cheap and can do wireless.
Minolta is Sony.... technically Minolta flash (3600HS/5600HS) is Sony flash (F36AM/F56AM) |

with flash off-camera(wireless) you can simulate studio lighting like picture. having flash on camera gives you a flat, dull and boring looking pictures (which most photojournalist can't avoid).

QUOTE(illuminati @ Dec 18 2008, 12:41 PM) i would like to ask everyone something bout CLEANING MODE That's not how it's suppose to work. The purpose of cleaning mode is to lift-up the mirror. After that detach the lens or body cap, then use blower to blow any dust on the sensor surface. Then put back lens and body cap. Turn off, then on again. Snap some pics to check for any remaining dust.once selected, how does it looks like when on cleaning mode? as for mine, the LCD turns blank, press shutter nothing happen, i put my ear near to the camera but hear nothing (no mechanism inside working, complete silent) how long does it takes before i can turn of my camera? Just turning on cleaning mode does not do anything at all. This post has been edited by soulfly: Dec 18 2008, 12:44 PM |

I'd choose A300 over A350 not because higher megapixel produce more noise.... but more about practicality in terms of 'space'.
14MP takes more space than 10MP image. Even with a700.... on 4GB card I used to shoot more than 1k shots with A200 (10MP) but A700 max around 800 shots. I had to get another 4GB for shooting a whole day event before running out of space. Another thing is processing, especially RAW files. 14MP is fat... I can't imagine processing a RAW file from 24MP image (not to mention opening multiple files). Turtle PC sure not enough power. QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 19 2008, 05:45 PM) what's there to 'fat tat' la? money come in, go out on Alpha. with around the same budget for that I'd suggest A700 + 16-105 + F58AM + grip before that, I need to upgrade my existing stuff first. I also have intention to Nikon D90 + 18-105 VR + SB800 / 900 + Grip. so erm.......... yeah well. This post has been edited by soulfly: Dec 19 2008, 08:29 PM |

QUOTE(vandechrome @ Dec 22 2008, 09:38 AM) actually the use of flash gel is to make your flash colour temperature similar to ambient light colour temperature.let say under tungsten lighting, adding CTO gel to your flash will make your flash orange. everything in the picture will look orange. however, when WB is corrected, the lighting will look more neutral. |

QUOTE(vandechrome @ Dec 22 2008, 01:32 AM) when using the bounce card, u still need to bouce to the ceilling.. If you have a bouncer like Lumiquest big bounce, no need to bounce to the ceiling anymore because the bounce surface of lumiquest is actually angled a bit so that most of the flash light reaches the bounce panel.bounce to the ceilling to get more light source around the subject add the bounce card to fill the darker part lite below the nose, eyes and tudung (forehead) |

Even the 3rd part one sucks because it uses external communication, got external cable connecting to the shutter release port.

QUOTE(signither @ Dec 23 2008, 01:03 AM) after getting the 55200, i realised i hardly use it.. but it's good to have it around coz we'll never know when we gonna need it.. so i think this is gonna be the only tele zoom lens for me, at least for the time being.. The 55-200 is actually good for closeup and portraits.not that my poison shield against the cobra is fully charged already, i'm currently funding for a kit lens replacement.. most likely a 2.8 |

Just did the camera test...
What type of Camera are you? My Results: ![]() Sony You are a Sonyite, more realist than idealist. Driven by high profit, low cost, and acceptable performance. You don't really care about what you're going to shoot, and what you're going to shoot it with. A zoom will do just fine. A jack of all trades, a master of nothing. What was the question again??? QUOTE(hazril @ Dec 23 2008, 10:58 AM) no la....thats my mum's pasar car..... The price is stupid and way more expensive than SonyStyle price. What the heck were they thinking?BTW...went to foto selangor....price for F42 and F58 quite 'cheap'.... f42 - rm1.1k+ f58 - rm 1.6k+ The f42 MSRP is just RM999, while f58 is about RM1450 if I recall correctly. QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 23 2008, 11:31 AM) i'd rather just use Av mode, control the aperture (and ISO) and let the camera do shutter setting - still beats having a lot of "AIYAH!!!" due to human error. I do use M for events... just a habit. It's not that hard at all.QUOTE(Sp00kY @ Dec 23 2008, 05:15 PM) Another thing with sunlight(harsh light) that I realized. Under harsh/very bright outdoor condition... there's nothing much you can do to avoid backlight problem because digital sensor has low dynamic range. The only way to get a proper exposure on your subject is by using flash as fill, or use HDR processing.1) metering cant help much when there is a strong backlight (behind of ur object) causing the exposure to go wrong result and an underexposed shot 2) AF keeps hunting when the backlight is too strong. Therefore, i will use flash to fill in to get the correct exposure. My method... I always take one shot using manual mode to get the best ambient exposure. For measuring the ambient, I just let the camera use multi-segment metering. A bit underexpose if I need too. If the subject is dark, I just use flash. I prefer using manual power ratio instead of TTL. However sometimes it's just too bright that your flash just can't overpower the ambient. The only solution is to shoot in the shade. It's easier to control your exposure this way. QUOTE(calvin_gsc @ Dec 23 2008, 05:55 PM) Info to share. w00t.... very unexpected. what made you want to buy an Alpha? I just bought a Alpha 300 single lens kit with 4GB Sony 133x CF card, cheapo tripod and cheapo small carrying bag for RM1890 from Tarita's roadshow going on at the Lowyat Plaza concourse. TTL is letting the camera set the power for you. Manual power is by using the power ratio selection on the flash.
