I have never really believed in online relationships with all the infidelity that goes around in even normal relationships so my advice to you would be to take things slow.Shouldn't have accepted him so fast but since you did, tell him you want to take things slow and at the same time use this excuse to prob further.
It could be something it could be nothing since he's miles away the only thing you can do is probe and hope that he is what he says he is, if he isn't cut the rope.
