I'm not sure what the effects would be on the eneloop batteries, but so far I have been using a different brand charger (Uniross) for my AA eneloops. The batteries are fine.In fact I find that the batteries last longer when I charge them on the Uniross standard charger (7-8 hrs) compare to using Sanyo's quick charger (3-4 hrs).
