Hi all,

I think it's about time I need to get a new chargeable battery for my wireless controller, the xbox battery pack is dying as it takes about 9 hours just to fully charge it and it's dead after 3 days regardless if I'm using it or not.

So I need some recommendation here, I'm thnking about buying those chargeable AA battery like the Energizer one.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Long term, maybe Charge and play could be a better choice

I calculated the cost earlier on and it is much cheaper to use that. It also come with a rechargable batt and there are also 3rd party versions.

Otherwise any rechargable batts are fine. I think gp power is the cheapest now?

Or another way is to get a wired controller?

Cheers

Some tips to share with you. Avoid leaving the battery pack on your controller if you're not using it. It will eat your battery life away. I usually charge it and disconnect it from the controller if im not using it. It will save the energy at leas a week or two. Also, when you on or off your console from the controller, it will use up more battery power.

Chargeable AA batteries are good and cheap solutions, the cheapest in the market is GP brand like our brother her said. You could opt for ENELOOP brand also which i recommend.. (i dun use it for my controller but for my camera flash and it last)

If you do go for rechargeable AA batteries... choose the max power stored like 2500 ones. That should last you a bit. The downside of it, you need to be very careful if you leaving the battery inside your controller as some cases, the battery melts... rare cases but it has happen. Just dont leave it in your controller for a long time.

go get a MAHA/IMEDION Powerex or Sanyo Eneloop battery. That one lasts long even not using it. they claimed it can still have 85% of power if u leave it 1 year unused after the last charge.

i'm using it with my flash too. laugh.gif

The actual battery pack is the best option in my opinion because if it does die, you just connect the cable to it, and not scrable around looking for batteries with juice.

GP Recyko Batteries

- 2-3 weeks it lasts !
- power retention is good... after numerous recharge, still like new !

I use a battery charger (GP brand) that cost me RM200+. It recharges the battery in 20 minutes. biggrin.gif Of coz, for other stuff I use GP Recyko as well...

What's up with the battery indicator on Xbox 360 always showing '3 bars' instead of the full '4 bars'. I dun recall EVER having 4 bars....

i assume that price must be including charger rite? GP recyko is quite good as well. they're using same technology to match with those low discharge brands. but i have a bad experience with GP last time, so i just dont bother to even look at it anymore. laugh.gif

You are using this one right? http://www.gpbattery.com/recyko.html
I saw it at Tesco yesterday, RM 50 for 2 batteries and charger, I didn't buy it because it's cheap and it's alkaline based, I always thought NiMH is superior, but with 1000 charges, I guess I was wrong. so I decided to buy a bit more expensive one, energizer NiMH 2500 MAH, it took 8.5 hours to fully charge as the label said, and funny thing is I'm getting 3 bars only like you, LOL what's going on?

i went and survey some rechargeble batts too, most common u can find is GP Recyko and Energizer. both NiCd

1. GP Batts power ranges fr 1800mAh to 2700 mAh with price range fr RM150-RM300 plus depending on number of batt and the charger functions.

functions are rapid charger (20min-60min/1hr charge) and normal 8-8.5hr charge. (pls correct me if im wrong on the power ranges)

2. Energizer batts power ranges fr 1600mAh - 2500mAh with price range fr less than RM100 - RM180 also depending number of batts inside the charger (2 cheaper and 4 slightly expensive) and also functions. (pls correct me if im wrong on the power ranges)

functions are also rapid charger (1hr charge) and normal 8.5hr charge also depending on mAh of batt.

since GP is like slight newer than energizer , i choose energizer cause, i always uses energizer and their batts lasts longer.
so i got myself an Energizer Rapid charger rechargable batt pack at RM180 nett.

batt pack consist of 1 one hr rapid charger and 4 NiCd rechargable batt with 2500 mAh power.

so far i've been using 2 batt on my wireless controller for 1 week 4 days now and still no low batt blinking. (i charge it rapid 1 hr) so far so good.

GP i cant comment cause never used any yet!.

Tips : Every new rechargable batt at 1st use needed to be charged accordingly to the normal charging time which is 8.5hr so as it to last longer. (dats wut the manual says), i just follow cause im not a bio-tech engineer. hheheheheheh

anyway, dats my experience hope it can help others to choose.
