Hi all HD pals, I just bought my HD in kl pc fair yesterday and felt satisfied with its overall performance.

But I notice one issue after playing around for some time, there is one ugly horizontal line on top of my screen and it was not there when I first open my HD, only after a restart then it stays there permanently!!...even after few restarts or theme changes won't get rid of it....pls see the screenshot below (inside red rectangular):

Anyone having the same 'horizontal line'?? or do you have any idea on how to get rid of it?? Plssss help me~~it's kind of frustrating sad.gif sad.gif

Thanks a bunch!!

Spaceman,

do you have SBSH ILauncher installed on your ppc?? you can try to disabling the top battery bar through ilauncher settings, try tab and hold the battery bar see if you can call up the popup menu.
*
Hi evilpuppy, do u suspect it's a 'top horizontal battery bar'? No I don't have SBSH ILauncher and nothing happens when I tab & hold the horizontal bar sad.gif

Any idea? or do u have such bar?

Goodness me!! Apparently there are people looking forward to the so-called "battery bar" on top of the screen....

Also on the #18 marttin's reply, but he didn't mention how to disable it, arghhhh.....I've tried playing around but I'm too new to WM so I can't do much....Can you help me on that? Thanks in advance!!!:D

Just realized probably I misunderstood your question re battery bar. I got you mean the battery with persentage on top bar. In case you was asking thin bar line, on the very top - this is part of WkTask

Ah....ok I managed to sort it out myself wink.gif

In case any noob like me facing the same 'issue', the horizontal thin line on the very top of your screen is actually a 'feature' from WkTask which comes along when I purchased this from pda expert (i'm not sure if this is one of the default programs)

it can be disabled by getting into WkTask general2 settings and disable the battery gauge option, cheers and thanks evilpuppy anyway! biggrin.gif

Added on December 13, 2008, 1:12 pmTouch HD / WM 6.1 bug.

I've this issue and thought it can be resolved with some tweaks, do you aware of any?

When THD is left to go into sleep mode on its own, the screen dims and does not recover. To get back the Auto/normal bright screen, got to press the top ON/OFF button manually to recover.

Current Settings
1.3 Light Sensor - Disabled
4.1 Autolock - Enabled

Is this a fault?

Just wondering if anyone here who bought HD from PDA expert in kl pc fair, does your HD by default comes with few languages (english, german, etc) BUT chinese? So does that mean my ROM version is without chinese? (that's what I read from googling).........how sad sad.gif

I understand I can install something like cootek touchpal and it'll support chinese input, but can I add 'chinese' as one of the languages inside Regional/Languages in settings? Do I need windows mobile cd and how can I achieve that? pls kindly help me out thanks smile.gif

AH by the way, can I do a windows update _from_ HD using wifi? The thing is now it won't let me to update with error like "can't detect data connection"....i assume it is expecting 3g / gprs connection to perform the windows update? am I right arr?

Thanks alot, this thread is great!!!

Hi, just yet another question:

I hv my HD set to flight mode on (in 'communication'), then I tried to turn on bluetooth and I notice that the flight mode (on top of bluetooth setting) is automatically set to 'off', so I thought 'fine, since bluetooth requires flight mode to be off'....however when I tried to use my LG Viewty to detect any bluetooth device around, I can't detect any?!?!

So i check my HD from the Home screen and I notice the top left corner (to the right of 'Start' button) there is flight mode still 'on', WTH??....Is aanyone hving the same problem as me? or is other phone like LG Viewty unable to detect bluetooth on HD?

Oh by the way I hv no time to test it again since I was rushing out with my LG Viewty. Can anyone pls help me out? Thanks biggrin.gif

Hi all, just installed latest Opera 9.5 b2 on HD. Installation was successful but upon click on the Opera shortcut in programs, my HD just hanged (no response whaosoever) and I have to do a soft reset using the red button under the cover....><

Anyway I've also decided to do a hard reset (becoz too many extra stuff installed by pda expert @@) by using "Clear Storage" function, so now my HD is clean and I'm ready to explore again ^^

1. However I noticed that the "slide to unlock" thing has gone for good, can anyone pls tell me how can I revive it?

2. And I've seen spb mobile shell all over other (winmo) forums, and I tried installed latest 2.1.2, I can't seem to find how it works? (forgive my noobness, hehe), is it a theme engine for HD, and while I followed instruction to install a windows 7 theme (by copy all the *.dat over to spb mobile shell folder overwritting existing files..bla bla). Then i did a restart but after that I can't get "spb menu" to response. just click on the shortcut and nothing happens @.@

Pls help....and by the way I'm looking for a rmvb codec/plugin if any one of u knows of one?

Thanks a zillion~~~

QUOTE(adyalisme @ Dec 30 2008, 03:11 AM)
Hello guys!

Merry christmas, Maal Hijrah and this coming new year. I just got back form a long Holiday (Ipoh, Langkawi, Perlis, Thai) My back hurts like hell.

Anyway, just want to share my experience along the holiday with my little HD.

1) GPS

I have both Mapking and Garmin installed and tried both along the way. I have to say that in my personal view, Mapking is more convenient to use rather than Garmin. For lots of reasons and U have to use it and compare to know the differences. Lets say that the convenience is owned by Mapking. However, GPS drains the battery like drinking water after marathon. I always standby car charger and use it when using GPS.

For the maps, I have to say, Mapking's map is better. I have yet to find the latest garmin's map. But Garmin doesn't show 'to the street' info. Such as jalan brape stroke brape.. and others.. And for my journey at Thailand, I forgot to installed Thai's map... So we kinda got lost several times. But managed to survive home.

Its great to have the Speed Trap POI and WIFI spots POI along the journey! I am so thankful with this.

One questions guys! Is it normal for my HD to lock to the satellites less then 1 minutes? If you switch on garmin or mapking, it locks pretty fast. I know this is a good thing but I used Nokia Navigator previously and had to wait for 5 mins to lock. So I was wondering.. is it normal? And I can even lock to satelites inside buildings if i am several feets near the windows. Nokia Navigator failed to do this. It even can not pick up satelites signal under the gas station's roof.

2) Music player

I would like to recommend the S2P software for you guys. I attracted many people around me when I use this software to hear musics. Its just so elegant and classy. I even got the attention of beautiful babes whom lastly smiled at me first. Hehe.. But my mom was next to me. So I am bounded to take further actions. Hehe..

You can also activate the AUDIO BOOSTER and choose the Classical menu for superb high quality sound. Provided that u use good earphone. This options will make you drown in your own music world.

3) Movie Player

This is a great help! HD offers great quality video and sound. I use Coreplayer. With 8G memory, i packed several divx movies and series. The screen size is so huge that I am again be the center of people's attention all around. hehe..

4) Camera

Quite handy when you wanted to snap several pics. However, night shots is a little dissapointed. But at day, 5 mpx is more than enough for keeping memories on your trip. Without carrying any more gadgets.

5) Wireless

Most hotspots around is locked such as at Carrefour, Starbuck and TMnet Wireless Hotspots. However, I managed to online with Yahoo Messenger for a while around KFC. It offers free wifi. And several other places along my journey offers it too. I am considering about the unlimited data plan package.... By the way, WIFI drain the battery so fast.

6) Torchlight??

Hehe.. I previously installed A torchlight programme called PLAMP. I didnt know that it will come in handy several times especially when I was in the Hiway, stopping at the gas station. I wanted to check for the engine and HD became a super bright torch light and helped me that time. You guys shud install it.

7) Weather Forcast

This is such a useful tool in HD. I managed to plan my journey with care especially my journey to thai. It rained the whole day. And it also helped me during my journey from Thai to KL.

8) Other programs

I was saved with joy several times with dictionaries, birthday reminders, power sms, calculators, and HD games...
CONCLUSIONS

Having HD in my pocket is such a great experience especially when you are in a journey. It made me have this joyful feeling to know that I am well equipped with great technology that can offer me great services when in need. For me the most useful tool is the GPS and Great Multimedia Player capability. I love my HD. I am so thankful for its technology.  rclxms.gif

From HTC

Q.  The device gets warm when it has been used for some time.
A. When using your device for prolonged periods of time, such as when you're talking on the phone, charging the battery or browsing the web, the device may become warm. In most cases, this condition is normal and therefore should not be interpreted as a problem with the device.
*
what if it gets burnt off or something? the statement above didn't mention tongue.gif

we all know when an electronic device (my dell laptop) gets very hot for a prolonged period, something will get burnt out (like my laptop motherboard), i get to change to a new motherboard cover by warranty though.

so who will be the one who wanna stress test his HD by letting it to heat up for "prolooooonges period"? lolx (respect!)

hohoho...

p/s: can i get/buy only the 3 pin plug (not the entire charger) from any HTC outlets? how much will it cost?

Thanks~

QUOTE
What version do I have ?
Turn on your device
On your device: Go to Start - Settings - System Tab - Device Info - Version\

You should see the following information (according to your device, the following is an example):

Rom Version 1.14.407.3 (2273) GER

1.14 - Is the Major version number
407 - Is the Country Code
3 - Is the Minor version (there have been 3 other version of this rom before this 0,1,2)
GER - Stands for the language the OS is. in this case it is German (WWE is World Wide English, F = French, etc.)
Radio 1.09.25.14 - Is the Radio Version
*Protocol 52.49a.25.26W - Is the Protocol version (some customizations each vendor adds to its rom)
On your device: Go to Start - Settings - System Tab - About\

You should see the following information (according to your device)

CE OS 5.2.20757 (build 20757.1.4.0) This is the version of the OS that is currently running on your device, (the higher the number, the most up-to-date your device is) To my knowledge this is released by Microsoft.

Wow, today is my second breakthrough!
Finally found a way to set wallpapers to ALL tabs in TouchFlow3D, u'd probably known this but I've suffered a month trying to figure it out wink.gif

here is my first wallpaper to show off:-
user posted image

By the way, to any of HD user with DUTTY ROM v1.7, I found one bug(??) such that I can no longer install ANY application from windows-to-HD because it won't prompt me anything on HD (supposingly it should prompt me to install the cab on HD), and upon finishing installation of Garmin from windows desktop, there is a popup saying it failed to run "autorun.exe" on HD........previously (before I flashed to DUTTY ROM) I had no problem at all with this, like what I did for setting up NETCFSetupv35 (Microsoft Compact .NETFramework 3.5) etc.

Anyone can help me out? Oh yeah after I've flashed to DUTTY ROM 1.7 I had also installed the two addon cabs as suggested: "Duttys Disable Sleep in Call" and "Duttys New HTC Album Fix for FaceBoook Upload".

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!! Cheers and happy valentine day!! biggrin.gif
