Hey guys.. Just got my HTC at 6.00pm just now from PDA expert.

This is what I got for RM3399:

1) HTC HD + everything in the box (charger, extra stylus, softpouch, screen protector, 8GB)
2) 2 pieces of mini USB reader (so small and convenient)
3) 2 pieces of stylus from PDA expert (cool little rod)
4) A High Performance B-Speech ISAS model Bluetooth Headset device
5) An extended 1 year warranty from SIS
6) PDA Car holder (normal one)
7) Free Software installation for Games, Multimedia software, Dictionaries and so many more cool PDA softwares I dun even have the chance to explore.
8) A special deal for car charger (to be picked up later on) This is not free though.. But I manage to get special cost price sad.gif
9) 2 pieces of Soft pouch from PDA expert (cool)

So I tried everything on HD and everything works fine.. Has not yet found any single problem yet. Even tried the GPS on the way home to Putrajaya which superbly well function. Wifi is super fast! thumbup.gif and speaker sound quality is so much better than TP... I am so thankful and the waiting for these couple of months paid of.. Seriously paid of... I am so relieved.. rclxms.gif

Anyway, as I promised earlier in my post, I will update on the deals from several booths around PC fair.

1) PDrena booth

Price : RM3399
Free gifts : PDA carholder, bluetooth headset, car charger
Extra year warranty : Have to add RM99 for the extra warrnty(RM50 after I made a fussy deal)
BAD SIDE : I can only have my HD on Monday the latest.. There is no stock. The seller there said to me .. He even want to potong jari if there are booth who sell HD on the spot. He guaranteed me I will not get any. So I left with straight face.

2)Thunder Match (Qool Planet)

Price : RM3399
Free gifts : Bluetooth (that's all)
Extra year warranty : Have to add RM35 to get it.
BAD SIDE : SO LITTLE FREE GIFTS! And no stock! And the guy don't even look at me as a buyer. He thought I cannot afford HD and offered me a cheaper phone.. haha.. Anyway I dun blame him coz my dressing was so simple.. I even quarraled with him about the specs and contains of HD box.

3) PDA Expert (booth 448)

Price RM3399
Free Gifts : As I mentioned earlier above (where i bought my HD)
Extra Year Warranty : 1 yr Free extra SIS warranty (total 2 yrs)
BAD SIDE : Someone next to me farted and acted like nothing happened. Others is ok..
GOOD SIDE : The PDA expert team was really convincing, nice and dedicated to me. They are not that cheapskate for free gifts. They don't even try to lie to me or anything whenever I asked about the specs and contains of HD box (I acted like noob).. After a lot of questions.. I then admit that I know so much about HD and HTC other phone where they gave me more informative info and special deals. I recommend this place to you guys.

That's all the booth that I saw selling HTC.. I am going to explore my HD now.. and give more feedback for our own benefit. thumbup.gif

can anyone describe the audio quality from the 3.5mm jack?
*
Audio quality using HTC earphone 3.5 jack is a bit lousy.. I have my own Phillips stereo earphone which I bought for RM65 and i tried it on HD.. The sound was superb (thanks to the headphone)... And thank God HD provide us with 3.5 audio jack so that we can use our own headphone..

Oh my god.. I just noticed.. When I installed the Hotfix from the HTC site, the line bar like spaceman experienced appeared. It was not there before. And one faulty fault I noticed was, When i am at the home screen. and I want to slide into the nest menu screen which is people... Whenever I flicked the middle of the screen from right to left, it became backward to the Program screen menu.

I think when we flick from left to right. It suppose to go to people menu is it? Anyone experience this?

This is my third day with HD. I am so surprised and in awe with its performance and capability. Though It seems lagging a bit but it does not annoy me that much. I also discovered many things including functions and other capabilites that it can do. Many of my friends are all planning to change to HD soon.

One thing though. I installed Divx for mobile and tried to play Heroes season 3 but the performance was not good. The picture clarity was superb however the sounds came out earlier than it should. Hiro Nakamura voice came out first than followed by his lips. Anyone can clarify this?

Hello all..
Just got back from pc fair klcc where i got my new touch hd. i got my deal from Thunder Match Technology sdn bhd. the deal i got was RM3,180, and another RM35 for 1 yr extended warranty (and get the sis privilege card). the package came with the standard stuff ie 2 stylus, 8gb mem card, soft pouch, and Jabra BT2010 bluetooth headset. also received a free screen protector, and extra soft pouch. searched high and low for a package with car charger/car phone holder, but could not find it anywhere. I am looking forward to using the touch hd after 2+ years with my faithful se k800i. was contemplating between touch hd and xperia x1, but the 3.8in screen was too much to resist! haha. i'm now trying to familiarize myself to use 'soft buttons'...so awkward since its my first experience on a touchscreen and a win mo device. tried some free games that came with it, unfortunately some of them could not be played because the lack of physical buttons ie D-pad..i guess have to find suitable games that are playable on the HD then.
*
Demmit Thunder Match Tech.. I went there and gave me a deal which i dun prefer. Maybe you went on the last day.. Anyway.. i'm happy with PDA expert. Very nice people.

Hurm.. i've been trying for the whole day.. even in my office... I tried to use my desktp pc's internet connection for my HD over bluetooth. I tired so many times but failed.

The funny thing is, I can use the pc's internet connection in my HD using usb cable. I did it thru Activesync. The speed was fine. Can anyone help me to configure sharing pc's internet connection for HD thru bluetooth? It will really help me to save data charges from Digi..

File system cache enabled
File system cache size 8mb
File system filter cache 131072
Glyph cache 64kb
But If I use the HTC HDTweak, the advise setting is below:

Performance
File system cache size = Normal
File system filter cache = Normal
Glyph cache 4mb

So which is the correct setting?

Guys.. i'm wondering. after tweaking using the tweak.. if we uninstall it... will it restore the previous normal setting before tweaking?

mind to share ur setting and step to connect internet w/o data charge from phone?
*
Well after a quick try, I can say that the sharing of internet over bluetooth from PC to HD is not that nice and stable... The speed is slow and u have to be close to the pc or laptop to get speed. It dc quit many times... And whenever HD goes into sleep mode. It stops the connections..

Well, this is what I did to get the connection:

1) Pair our device(HD) with PC over bluetooth. This must be done 1st before everything else can be set. ( to do this, please refer second part of this instructions)
2) At our pc, in the bluetooth Device setting/COM port/, click Add and select "Incoming". Click OK. Wait a while and remember the Port No. (i.e: COM port no 13)
3) Click OK at the bluetooth device setting window and
4) Go to ActiveSync (if u don have, download from Windows HERE
5) Click File/Connection settings and put a check on everything.
6) Remember to change the port no. according to step NO2 (i.e COM 13) and change the field for This computer connect to : INTERNET
7) Click OK.
8) Now, on your HD, go to Start/Program/activesync and connect via bluetooth.

Your HD will then connect the activesync via bluetooth with your pc's activesync. After established, your HD will now use the PC's internet connection. Tak percaya? shut off the phone signal or take your sim card off.. U will still get internet.. Hehe... Without charges maa...( I tried taking off the sim just to confirm)

_______________________________

How to do step 1?

1) On your PC, at control panel/bluetooth setting/device tab, add new device. Follow the instructions until your PC and HD is connected.
2) Make sure that on your HD at Settings/communications/settings/bluetooth/ .... click and hold on your PC name and edit it. There will be a field for Select services to use from this device: Check Activesync and click Save. Or else you will not be able to get the activesync service...

________________________________

Good luck. I think it helps once in a while whenever we are somewhere without wireless and there is a bluetooth enabled pc, we can use the connection for our own benefit. Sorry for the confusing instructions. I kinda had a 2 day confusing trial and error with this sharing functions... Keep exploring your HD and share info guys! thumbup.gif

erm.. y not connect your pc straight with data cable? you can connect to internet straight from your pc.. via active sync i suppose..
*
Well.. it happened where sumtimes.. u go to your frens house. and found that his laptop offer bluetooth. And u need to access internet on ur mobile rather the laptop.... but you suddenly realize. no cable to attach with.. then bluetooth is a way.

As for me, my office does not have wireless point. So my desktop pc at my office have bluetooth plus the internet. I dun want to go around my room with wires attached to my HD.. especially leaving it around (RM3300!!!). So having internet over bluetooth is a real help for me. Dun have to buy wireless router at all for my office. Just allow the internet on HD and move around in my pocket while elegantly surf in front of my office mate who is now tempted to buy HD. hehe..

Hurm.. after trying back, I think that was the steps I did.. i dunno.. if there is anything I missed.. please add..

by the way, I just realized that.. when I opened youtube using opera by typing www.youtube.com... i can't watch the video.. so I looked up on the net and I had to install Flashlite 3.1 to play videos in opera web browser. Just thought that some of you might be interested.. hehe... Google it up and install..

(i was trying to access the 'other' Tube to watch video.. tongue.gif youtube link is already installed in HD.. not a problem for hd users.)

hi,

can u manage to watch the flash web site like youku.com? and can u tell me how u install the flashlite 3.1? the xda-developers site doesn't tell exactly how to install the cab files. thanks.
*
Well i did not try youku.com yet.. But i did try youtube.. and also the other tube which is not for the under age people.. only 18+..hehe. thumbup.gif Everything went on fine for now. I also tried on certain websites which have videos..

I forgot the sites which offer flashlite 3.1 but u can google it up and search for windows mobile version. If you get the CAB file, you should copy it first in your HD (preferably the storage card) and on your HD, open up File Explorer and click on it. It will then start to install.

Actually there are other ways to install.. but i usually do it like that..

As for the file explorer.. I recommend you to use Resco Explorer.. It is easy and have more functions.

I'm so surprised. after waking up, my HD went on dead. When i switch it on, the battery had drained. What happened? I did not on any wifi or anything.. The battery was 80% yesterday.. (probably I did not realize to switch off the wireless and I forgot)

By the way, Last 2 days, I found out WHY my HD uses a lot of batt power since I bought it last week. Each day have to charge. It was because I was using the S2U2 unlock program. Which I offered to a friend of mine and used it on his HTC TP. He called me and complained, after installed, battery drained soo darn much. So I tried to uninstall mine and realized the improvement. My battery can stay up to 2 days with normal usage. My friend also said his TP returned to normal after uninstalling it. I also adjusted my backlight and put it on minimum so that it saves more battery.

And do you have a FM Modulator in your car? What it your opinion in using it as a car charger. My friend did it on his HTC TP. No need to buy charger.. Is it safe? Buying charger from shops also is not ori one... its still not safe...

Added on December 20, 2008, 9:58 amHow to assign the best quality picture for your PEOPLE CONTACTS:

TouchFLO 3D has a really great way of displaying contacts so that you can easily flip through pictures of people you call often like a Rolodex. But, if you just press the "+" button on one of the blank contact slides and assign a contact that already has a picture associated with it, the picture comes out very blurry and pixelated.

How do you get a clearer picture? First, be sure you have the picture you want loaded on a storage card or on your device. Then, fire up Album from the Programs list. Select the photo you want, hit the right Menu button, and do Save to Contact (top screenshot). The resulting thumbnail will be much clearer. Thanks to IanKay for the tip (from the HTC Touchscreen forum).

as for the contact pics, u could also use "Pictures & Videos" to crop the desired pic, then use "Album" to assign to contact..
Jo@NJS Congrats on ur purchase, Welcome to The HD World.. rclxms.gif

kindly pm me the details of ur purchase so that i could update it at the "Owners' List" at post #1.. smile.gif

i've checked mine.. It was S2u2 v1.31. I tried it on 2 HTC which was mine (HD) and my fren (TP).. both resulted on ultimate battery consuming. I will try to search for the latest version as u suggested or use ur current version. I'll give the feedback later..

For the contact pics, what is actually the size? My pic seems to be distorted in the people menu....

QUOTE(ganaz-x @ Dec 25 2008, 03:08 AM)
So I was at Pda Arena Sunway today to checkout the Touch HD. Was considering switching my Touch Pro with the HD since the latter has a bigger screen. To my disappointment, the HD suffered from the same problem I had with my second Diamond. My first Diamond had an awesome screen but the USB port malfunctioned later on. Anyway, the color looked washed out when compared to my current Touch Pro. It’s very obvious when viewing from the side angle. The Touch Pro has better contrast and sharpness.  Guess I’ll skip the HD for now…sigh  sad.gif
*
Hurm.. dunno bout this. But my opinion is that HD looks better then TP. And the screen is far greater. The USB is ok for now but my battery dried up fast. I think its because of some applications I installed.. Other than that, its ok and nice. U shud consider buying it. Take ur time.

Anyway, I made a spring cleaning on my HD last nite. What I did was, I made simpler my start menu. It only has Today, Programs and settings. And I added Garmin and Mapking as shortcut.

In programs, it was previously messy with lots of shortcuts.. So I went into Device/Windows/Startmenu/programs using explorer and made several main folders such as MULTIMEDIA, EDUCATIONS, PERSONAL, NAVIGATION and other....and I put those messy links into its own respective main folders.

So when I wanted to search for windows media player for example, I just click on Start, Multimedia, Windows media player.. Save time and more organized...

Have your own organized start menu! It helps a lot.

NOTE :
1) Always BACKUP your HD before doing this (the whole Device and Storage).
2) In explorer, NEVER delete links in device/Windows/startmenu or many of your programs in HD will not work. To disable some undesired menus, go to start/setting/menus and untick which u desire.
3) If some programs did not work after moving the shortcuts in respective folders, try copying the execution file from its main programs folders (either in Storage or Device) and paste as shortcut in the Main Folders created for start menu.

Hello guys!

Merry christmas, Maal Hijrah and this coming new year. I just got back form a long Holiday (Ipoh, Langkawi, Perlis, Thai) My back hurts like hell.

Anyway, just want to share my experience along the holiday with my little HD.

1) GPS

I have both Mapking and Garmin installed and tried both along the way. I have to say that in my personal view, Mapking is more convenient to use rather than Garmin. For lots of reasons and U have to use it and compare to know the differences. Lets say that the convenience is owned by Mapking. However, GPS drains the battery like drinking water after marathon. I always standby car charger and use it when using GPS.

For the maps, I have to say, Mapking's map is better. I have yet to find the latest garmin's map. But Garmin doesn't show 'to the street' info. Such as jalan brape stroke brape.. and others.. And for my journey at Thailand, I forgot to installed Thai's map... So we kinda got lost several times. But managed to survive home.

Its great to have the Speed Trap POI and WIFI spots POI along the journey! I am so thankful with this.

One questions guys! Is it normal for my HD to lock to the satellites less then 1 minutes? If you switch on garmin or mapking, it locks pretty fast. I know this is a good thing but I used Nokia Navigator previously and had to wait for 5 mins to lock. So I was wondering.. is it normal? And I can even lock to satelites inside buildings if i am several feets near the windows. Nokia Navigator failed to do this. It even can not pick up satelites signal under the gas station's roof.

2) Music player

I would like to recommend the S2P software for you guys. I attracted many people around me when I use this software to hear musics. Its just so elegant and classy. I even got the attention of beautiful babes whom lastly smiled at me first. Hehe.. But my mom was next to me. So I am bounded to take further actions. Hehe..

You can also activate the AUDIO BOOSTER and choose the Classical menu for superb high quality sound. Provided that u use good earphone. This options will make you drown in your own music world.

3) Movie Player

This is a great help! HD offers great quality video and sound. I use Coreplayer. With 8G memory, i packed several divx movies and series. The screen size is so huge that I am again be the center of people's attention all around. hehe..

4) Camera

Quite handy when you wanted to snap several pics. However, night shots is a little dissapointed. But at day, 5 mpx is more than enough for keeping memories on your trip. Without carrying any more gadgets.

5) Wireless

Most hotspots around is locked such as at Carrefour, Starbuck and TMnet Wireless Hotspots. However, I managed to online with Yahoo Messenger for a while around KFC. It offers free wifi. And several other places along my journey offers it too. I am considering about the unlimited data plan package.... By the way, WIFI drain the battery so fast.

6) Torchlight??

Hehe.. I previously installed A torchlight programme called PLAMP. I didnt know that it will come in handy several times especially when I was in the Hiway, stopping at the gas station. I wanted to check for the engine and HD became a super bright torch light and helped me that time. You guys shud install it.

7) Weather Forcast

This is such a useful tool in HD. I managed to plan my journey with care especially my journey to thai. It rained the whole day. And it also helped me during my journey from Thai to KL.

8) Other programs

I was saved with joy several times with dictionaries, birthday reminders, power sms, calculators, and HD games...

CONCLUSIONS

Having HD in my pocket is such a great experience especially when you are in a journey. It made me have this joyful feeling to know that I am well equipped with great technology that can offer me great services when in need. For me the most useful tool is the GPS and Great Multimedia Player capability. I love my HD. I am so thankful for its technology. rclxms.gif
