@LawrenZza
We usually have an iPhone for Dummies guide as a pinned thread in here which you can refer to but that is currently down for the moment as we are trying to revamp it.
To answer your question, you can access the internet on your iPhone by:
1. Turning on WiFi: Settings>Wi-Fi>On 2. Select your WiFi Connection from the list to connect.
That should be it. You can surf the net using the Safari application. Remember to turn the WiFi off after you're done as it drains the battery. I hope that answers your question?

My connection conveniently timed out when I realised. You can refer to this thread for the solution. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/831923. I don't think you can do it via USB though.

Lawrenza,
Try iphonemodem. Google it. You can use your iphone 3G as a modem. Make sure your line is unlimited otherwise you'll face a hefty bill later on.

@MattJ, I wasn't aware we're able to use the iPhone3G as an 'external' modem - the last time I researched on it (which was probably about 2.5 months ago) it wasn't available [More like, there was a program which was originally available but it got taken down 24hrs later *siGh*]

Tinkerbel,
Did use iphonemodem a few times.It's a trial so you only got some logins could not rmember how many but if you like it you can buy it. It is OK access speed and bandwidth speed nothing to shout about and quite simple to set up as well. However I still prefer to use my E71 as my modem to my lappie, quite zippy.

@MattJ, iphonemodem? hMm.. it's not available on the Apple Store - let me guess, it's an application that's usable only if the iPhone's been JB-ed?! I haven't JB-ed mine and have no intentions to do so; any other suggestions? @JasLyn, This other option is for when I'm travelling. Been travelling quite a bit since I got this new job and thought if I subscribed to the 'Unlimited Data Package' it'll do me good but if it's not going to allow me to use my phone as modem it's going to be a waste *grins* For now, I'm on a borrowed set of USB modem *grins*

I haven't JB-ed mine and have no intentions to do so; any other suggestions? u have to find NetShare. sadly the app has been pulled from AppStore. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « if u havent previously purchased NetShare then most probably the way to obtain it is illegal. btw, in the end have to JB the device before u ca use it either.
so looks like u have to JB afterall. and install iPhoneModem. that's the easiest route available. and u can avoid the cracked app. This post has been edited by LaskarCinta: Dec 14 2008, 11:41 AM

I totally did not get the point of connecting your computer to the iphone to the router. Does your computer not have a wifi? You want to go through USB to your iphone and from iphone to the router via Wifi ? You gotta be a whole lot more specific with your questions you know.. Going to the doctor and saying "It hurts" doesn't really tell a lot...
