I would like to know if there is any great improvement on the speaker side of the iPhone 3G?
I plan on upgrading my 2G, but this concerns me A LOT.

Sincerely i don't see why he can't start new thread to ask something he not sure, If everything Google then whats the heck to have a forum?

I don't see anything wrong about that.
Different people has different opinions on the speaker?

the iphone 3g grips better in your hand due to it's curved shape.

the battery life is longer too, or maybe it's just me.

.. and whats your opinion on the speaker? audio quality wise, how loud, can it be heard in traffic and packed areas etc.

imo the 2g is like a joke and i find the ringtones quite useless.

of all the problems ive encountered with the phone, the speaker is my main issue right now!

bro... the speaker of iphone 3g is slightly improved than the 2g speaker... as far as my concern, if u really neead a loud and powerful speaker... iphone is not for u man....
for quality wise... the update of 2.2 Firmware improved the sound quality when talking on the phone... but its not as loud as the nokia, sony ericsson, samsung or LG. always got scold by my friends as sometimes i cant hear their call despite i already put my vibrate on.....

so my solution is using an earphone since i always listen to music....
but hey.... if u really wanted loud sounds and all... iphone 3g is not for u...

dubbed as a music entertainment fone but not good in performing good sounds..dats kinda disappointing rite.. but yea, u cud always maintain ur iphone2g. its basically d same thing..with minor upgrades..haha..

What's a Lively forum and Good forumer.

Cause of this, Today i manage to compare my i3G with my friend i2G.. frankly speaking.. base on real life, me and my friend both agree we don't see (hear) any diffenrent on both our iPhone.. (Both still gives soft sound)
I think only upgrade your i2G to i3G if u need the 3G (HSDPA) funtion.. I'm happy to online with it, alot more faster then i2G.

Right... you don't realise what the consequences of your words lead to do you V3000? I am very supportive of open discussions and I find that you have done nothing wrong but you must know that in this one thread alone, you managed to shoot a lot of old timers in the head. Old timers in the iPhone forum who have contributed so much in here. It's not very appreciative of you to not look at the big picture before making a comment.

when people do something like that, obviously it's me that you are referring to.
We have already set up so much of templates and guides up on the PINNED section just to get the attention of you guys, but hey posting a new thread and getting responses like yours would be better instead of using the search button?

For troubleshooting, move over to the iPhone club, use the template and prompt replies will be there in no time, but phone-drop-into-toiletbowl threads crop up along with this differences thread so to speak.

Considerable time and efforts had been used up by alot of people before you to make this forum a better place but still the same shit happens albeit that it's just on a different day.

one thing about iphone la the volume button i find it very sensitive i hate it sometimes. tiba tiba no ringtone i check back... omg it was decreased... i have t increase it back... boring gila.

Sad.. This happen to both i2G & i3G
I already get myself to like iPhone vibrate funtion.. i found out that iPhone Vibrate is hard and Great

Hopefully 3rd Generation iPhone come with better Speaker (Stereo speaker would be perfect) and Better Button (Less Sensitive)

now every 1 use touch screen, Nokia also follow, so N97 is coming out to save it own ass
b4 every 1 go for HTC, apple or RIM phones

perhaps TS shud get N97 that coming out next year

True, for me.. the iPhone speaker is kinda bad..
if u wan clear and sharp sound.. you have to make sure that the volume is not full..
otherwise.. like ciplak speaker.. or maybe this happens to me only..

but the camera is not bad for 2MP camera phone lo..
and Cycorder will amaze u with its quality dude

I never know Iphone 2G speaker is that bad till I get my hands on one ... and really disappointed with it.. I believe apple can do better then this ... at least a decent quality speaker... the speaker on the 2G is total crap not only is not loud when songs that have some bass it will sounds like crack or pecah...

Anyway I've been following Iphone thread all the time, and I don't think there is any problem with this thread... I know perhaps this kind of question can be asked in the iphone dummies thread.. but a lot of times is kinda hard for me to find the things i wanted to know there..

so u can make a deccission..

I did actually, but I didn't try it with some bassy songs ... anyway is not really a big issue for me la ... i still love the Iphone for some other reasons .. haha

I think the speakers are meant for loudspeaker only la.. eventho it's still bad as loudspeaker..
as long as u can hear the conversation from the other side ok d..

Actually, I don't think is a big problem for at least put a decent quality speaker ... Don't think the thickness is a problem for better speaker... You sure have seen phones which is thinner have much much better sound quality then the Iphone right..

IMO, the iPhone was meant to be used with earphones as was the iPod Touch. The speakers on both 2G and 3G are inadequate unless you're by yourself in the room with no background noises.

those phone is speaker facing downwards, mean u see those hole at behind of the phone instead of the bottom one

trust me, i'm an audiophiler, i know what need to do to increase the speaker qualities

i turn it on just now to try the local sim since the set is from UK Vodafone
and u know what... X1 speaker so sux compare to iPhone

try to compare to other slim smartphone and you feel lucky of iPhone speaker instead....

The volume of 3G iPhone is very much louder that the previous generation. Not sure why some can compare 2G and 3G and still say is the same..super lame.

Well compare 2G with 3G the ipod output for earphone is much more better for 3G, and everything load faster on 3G too

Just upgraded the 2G to 3G 3 months ago.

Significant speaker improvement. I can't hear my 2G ringing most of the time when I am in a pub. With my new 3G phone, it wakes the dead people.

Can use normal headphone.

I hate the 3G looks. Look like cheap phone because of the back. Prefer my 2G flat aluminum casing to be put on table and use as tabletop.

GPS of course which is useless if you don't have a good data plan. (of cos u can jailbreak and use offline map) But the GPS is not as cool as I thought.

3G. Faster yes but nothing impressive.

Somehow the screen looks better in 3G to me. Not a significant change.

Apps loads about the same.

To be frank and honest, I don't feel much different between the 2 and the price difference is not small. I am studying in Singapore so I am with Singtel, so there is reason for me to go for a legal set.

Otherwise, stick with the 2G phone...IMHO

I agree. If GPS and 3G service are of no significance use to you, an iPhone 2G is more than good enough.

That's the reason why I end up with a Iphone 2G ... the price gap for those minor improvements which I don't really need is definitely not worth it ..
