Old Kawan Kopitiam Review
Location: Kuchai 10.116b Tomato Kuay Teow (not on menu, hidden dish) - Its basically a Cantonese hor fun ingredients but instead of the egg sauce, its a tomato gravy , sarawak style. Taste wise is good, and definitely worth a try for those who have not had this soviet dish before. Oren White Coffee - This is white coffee with orange flavour. At first sip, it reminded me of those chocolate/coffee wafer with orange flavour. Pleasant taste. Environment - pretty cosy inside for a kopitiam, and there is a little corner with red sofa for discreet meetings. http://wikimapia.org/12871113/Old-Kawan-Kopitiam Wing Soon / Win Soon Fish Head Beehoon Location: Also Kuchai Lama I tried the Sang Har Meehoon. The soup was thick and a bit salty due to the fact I arrived at closing time (10pm). THe ingredients however were pretty good, and I believe if we went at dinner time it would be more consistent and flavourful. This post has been edited by beechwood55789: Jun 5 2009, 09:50 AM |

I had the Hainan Coffee (free refill from 8pm to 12am). Tastes like a hainan
Sang har meehoon cost Rm13. I ordered the fish head meehoon, RM7.50. Lots of hamchoi. The fish head portion is really big. The soup is nice and salty. Good for hamsap people like me. I like my soup ham ham sap sap. hehehehhee |

Old Kawan -My Mongolian beehoon...Altantuya fabourite probably. Mah-mah tei only. It's just like Singapore beehoon but without the pinky coloured thingy...plain coloured-lah..u know the beehoon colour...No Teh-C spesial (San Chan Teh-C)..so ordered normal Teh-C also mah-mah tei..
Wing Soon fish head + san Har combo..yeah this time around near to closing time damn salty..San Har at this time no longer juicy...Nevertheless still good as usual.. |

Old Kawan - Char Koay Teow: no wok hei, no cockles, no egg, chicken meat was used instead. very oily, and tastes like those economy char koay teow, not worth the try.
butter and kaya toast uses pandan kaya, interesting. not bad. white coffee - big cup and not bad too |

Harlow guys. It was nice meeting you guys last week. Thanks for the feedback on Old Kawan.
Vkeong - Let me go Penang and ask the Lorong Selamat auntie to teach me fry the kueh tiaw. Then i go buy the lcly goggles like her and fry one small plate for you with lots of cockles and pork lard As for Win Soon, first time i go there although i stay nearby hahaha. Taste wise boleh tahan la but kinda pricey Buntutman - Next Kopitiam ? Pappa Rich Kuchai Lama ar ... This post has been edited by platingirl: Jun 8 2009, 01:53 PM |
