Hi guys, newbie here, and I'm so glad to run into this thread. I'm using a Sennheiser HD558, and like some of you here stated, I do not have a mic, which becomes a huge issue when I scrim with my platoon mates. I have a to wear my sister's headset around my neck just to use it's Mic and look like a retard in the process, wearing two headsets at the same time.

I've looked at the zalman and antlion mics, but there doesn't seem to be a local distributor. Really not keen on ordering from overseas. Help please!! Let me know if there are other brands or mics which I can just clip on and use, and does not involve changing cables or Any modifications, preferably under RM100.

Thanks.

Need something like this you mean?

http://dx.com/p/mini-clip-on-microphone-7080

I think those PC shops, should be able to find something similar but expect to pay maybe RM15 for it.
I recently ordered this http://dx.com/p/xty-operator-style-earbud-...ophone-set-2631. Not yet arrived.

Just want the mic as it is flexi mic boom and small/light size of it, will probably allow me to somehow stick it to a headphone with maybe a double sided tape. Just want to test it out to see how it fits.
*
Whoa yeah man, I want something like the flexi boom you're getting. Can you help me order one as well?.

And thanks so much for the recommendations. But I went to a lot of PC shops and mics like these are almost non existent. ='(

Yeah its very hard to find these basic types which people can use to mod.

I can only think maybe in Jln Pasar or Imbi Plaza can find these things. But I never got time to go browse there.
Order for you ah? Errr, I think you better order yourself for this. Coz I haven't got the item yet. It might never even reach me. Who knows.  sweat.gif

But will update here once I get it.  nod.gif

I'm still studying man, and I have no car or credit cards. So that's why I originally posted I didn't want to order anything from overseas or buy from far away places.

And hahhaha I'm just asking. Let me know how it goes when you do recieve it and test it. biggrin.gif

i also wanna test, but it's impossible for me to travel all the way to Penang from KL just to test a few headphones.

sigh. KL also no where to test.  cry.gif

They have a branch opposite Asia Cafe near SS15. Very friendly bunch of sales guys. Been buying from them for 3 years now. Price is reasonable really. Worse than online retailers but better than most stores. But you get the security and satisfaction.

Sharing is caring.

I bought from http://dx.com/

This was what I bought.

http://dx.com/p/xty-operator-style-earbud-...ophone-set-2631

Price seem to have increased a little bit since I bought.
*
Hahaha thanks man. Appreciate it. A little increase is okay I guess since it's cheap.

doh.gif Sennheiser, who are you trying to kidd?

G4ME One - basically a HD558 with a mic and volume control. You can get a HD558 for much less and then use the extra for a proper condenser mic for even better quality lol.
G4ME Zero - An updated PC350, just new earpads and a new paint job. $279 for it is highway robbery, period.

You still want it?
*
While I agree on the G4ME Zero being highway robbery, I myself have a HD558, and I appreciate the fact it has a Mic. Not that I'll be buying it since I already have one.

But yeah, you know any Condenser Mics for under RM100?

Under RM100 no, but the Samson Meteor Mic was about RM180 just a couple weeks ago on Amazon.

Ouch. Plus shipping and all it'll be 200+. Sigh. Looking for something under 100.

How much does the Fiio E17 AMP normally cost?
*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. And I can say what the seller usually say;

Offer too low. Please look somewhere else. tongue.gif

Erm, I got it for around RM550 a year ago when it was retailing close to RM600+. But now if you bargain you can get it for RM500. Jaben has it. Using it with my SM3/UE900. rclxms.gif

Managed to test the mic I bought from DX.com.

Made a simple video to compare with my Razer mic. Links in the video.

Personal conclusion is that the DX mic works great but it has no noise reduction feature. This is the main reason the Razer mic sounds slightly softer but it has no back ground noise. Also I turned on mic boost for both mics I tested to ensure I can capture my voice properly although this might make the captured sound a bit grainy.
*
Very interesting. Yeah the Razer Mic sounded softer but more clearer, cleaner back ground as well. The DX Mic has a more natural sounding result though.

Btw, I found a LYN member who was bringing in stuff from the US, and I asked her about the Zalman Mic I wanted. Here is what she quoted me.

1. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00029MTMQ (ONE UNIT)
Ships from and sold by Amamax (USA Seller)
price : $7.79 (rm31)
- international shipping handling charges fees (included Item Actual weight + volumetric weight) = (RM 15)
- us ground shipping charges to portland warehouse : free
Total : RM 46

Is it worth it? I'm ordering it with a set of Corsair Mechanical replacement key caps for my K95.

Whether its worth it or not depends on your use. I have not used Zalman clip on before. Only using mic for gaming and not for casting/singing etc so I don't really need a fantastic mic. Which is why I'm willing to test this DX mic out.

In the end, it's your money to spend.  biggrin.gif
*
Aaaaaaaaaaah. icon_question.gif

Hahahah. Guess buying stuff from the US is gonna cost anyways. How much did yours cost in total plus shipping? If it's cheaper I might as well just get the DX.

It was USD 2.55 for the earphone mic. Delivery was free.

So if convert, did not cost me more than RM10 for the mic to buy it from DX.
*
shocking.gif What?! So cheap?! Holy hell. I might have to reconsider that Zalman Mic purchase. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks mate!

The mic can integrate with your HD558 or not first? Mine HD681 dunno can integrate or not also :/
By the way, do you usually play FPS or smth?
*
I'll just wear it underneath the earcups since it's small enough. And I'll only connect the voice input into the comp. Worse comes to worse I'll stick it to the side if the sennheisers. rclxms.gif

Yeeeap. Huge Battlefield fanschise fan ever since Battlefield 2, plated every series since then. I also play CS, Half Life, L4D, Borderlands series and other FPS games. But still mostly BF3/BF4. Really looking forward to Titanfall too. biggrin.gif
