The AKG K612 Pro can be had for RM560 now on Amazon, plus shipping and possible tax should bring you to around RM700 or so.
So yeah, if you can push your budget up to RM700 then the K612 is all you'll ever need for a very, very long time. It's the most sensible upgrade to a Siberia V2 I can think about.

If your budget is stritcly RM500, the Sennheiser HD558 is another sensible upgrade. Only RM380 on Amazon now, including shipping should be no more than RM500.

Now in all seriousness, the HD800 are sounstage monsters. Put this on with a properly mixed FPS and then with a little bit of practise, I guarantee you that you will be in the top of the leaderboard most of the time.
Otherwise for immersiveness, I bloody love the HD800 for what it is capable with (TH-900 takes the cake on the best presentation of bass in headphones I've ever heard).

Now just don't get stucked up in buying $200 custom cables to replace the ones on the HD800, that'd just be a waste of money.

You're gonna do line-out from ZxR > Precision 2 > HD800?
There's a problem here.

The headphone line-out on the ZxR (as well as the entire Z series) has high distortion and channel imbalance, something the RCA line-out does not. However at the same time the ZxR's headphone line out is the one you want to use for SBX as the algorithms for that is different to the SBX afixed to the RCA line out.

You'd want to go optical out from the ZxR (in which case you should just save RM400 and get a Z instead) to an external DAC with optical input then to Precision 2.

I honestly don't think you'd need the NFB2. I've gone through over 11 DACs of different origins over the last year and honestly, DACs are very, very difficult to pick apart.
Some DACs cater to a warmer sig, some DACs cater to the neutral and some are just cold and analytical. But the thing is, all of them sounds good. A good DAC is a good DAC, end of story.

I always felt that DACs has been overpriced for whatever reasons.

Never heard the NFB2 but I have heard the same ES9018 DAC it has on the NFB11.32 and really, I doubt the difference would be anything significant. At least not worth the extra $200.
It's like the Schiit Modi vs Bifrost, I saw no reason for the Bifrost at all as the Modi sounds 99% like the Bifrost. Not even exaggerating, but that's how it is.


That Titanium Pro doesn't have a headphone out. I've never tested it, but if it's similar to the Titanium HD, that means THX TruStudio is available equally on all channels.
Otherwise worse come to worse, just optical out to Bifrost you've been eyeing (that means no Loki for you! ).

That headphone out is coupled with the stereo out, that means that channel has an output impedance of over 100ohms. Do you want your headphones going into that?

My suggestion, get the Modi with optical input + a good amp. End game, for a very long time... until I poison you again with something else.

TH900? Probably the best closed-headphones that I've ever heard. That bass, seriously that bass!! It's just on another level of immersiveness. So clean, tactile and textured, so much impact, so deep and just really, it envelopes well mixed audio in the best possible way you can dream of. Obviously being a closed headphone means that the mids will suffer a bit and even the TH900 cannot escape that, the lack of dynamics from not being open does show its weakness here. Some owners say they do hear a bit of distortion on the mids, I don't. The distortion is there on freq. graphs though, but I don't hear it.

However, by no means the TH900 sounds weak at all. There are still plenty of detail in the mids, it's not up-forward in your face to cause fatigue but it isn't drowned out by that empowering sweet bass it has. Just don't expect the chilling mids you'll find on a HD800 or even a HD650. Imaging on the TH900 is impressive for a closed headphone,

Haven't had the chance to hear the Alpha Dogs yet but yeah, I've read many who has both says it's very close to one another. But alternatively, Fostex's lower-end TH600 which sells for about the same price as the Alpha Dogs sounds really close to the TH900 too. And I also know there are some who innitially bought a JVC DX2000 and just switched for the cheaper TH600 just because there's no point in having the DX2000.

The TH600 are basically re-badged Denon D7000 (oh and THAT has some of the best presentation of bass out ther too) with just slightly wider soundstage and more refined mids. The differences are very slight though and it could just be down to the different earcup matterials.

The D7100 has a different driver and different build to the D7000, they don't sound similar. Ever since Fostex stopped making headphones for Denon, their headphones has been sort of very controversial.

One review of the D7100 said that it only started sounding nice after over 2000 hours of burn-in.....
Yeah, right. 2000 hours later, the person had better justified the purchase or he'd be looking stupid in the mirror.

I wouldn't take the D7100 as reference to the TH600 because they would be even more disimilar to each other.

I think the Mad Dogs is quite a safe choice though, wouldn't feel bad about picking it up at all.

Right now I'm pretty much at an end-game with Fidelio X1 + Vmoda BoomPro setup for gaming.
Then I'm on the Annies for music (though I do take the Annies for competitive gaming over the X1). It's a humble setup but I don't think I wanna jump back into high-end gear anytime soon eventhough I do miss the TH900.

Majority of gaming headsets has poor built quality for a reason — the bulk of the money goes into advertising and sponsorship, not into manufacturing the product.

Maybe Fostex will come up with a successor to the TH900 at that time, which by then the TH900 go cheaper (heh it's nice to dream, won't happen). Speaking of Audeze, gonna try and get a test on the LCD-X soon. All the hype and review over it, I'm excited yet skeptical at the same time.

The X1 was $150 on Amazon in January... one hundred and fifty bucks! It was only for a day, but that deal just made the X1 the BEST deal you can ever get on a headphone in history. It's one of the most exemplary bass you can get on an open-canned headphone, perhaps the most immersive even, short of planars that is. Madness though, I bought mine at $300.

Because the X1 has removable cable, using this mic basically means one thing: why do gaming headsets still exist? Furthermore the X1 doesn't need much amping, so people who says "oh but you get a mid-fi headphone and that would mean you need to spend money on the amp", well no you don't with the X1.

People who got the $150 deal on the X1 + Vmoda boompro is pretty much set for life, as far as gaming goes.

Never liked the 500, that jarring treble at the top end like the HE-400... ugh.

Maybe the HE-560 will fix that and I hope so. That's another one on my radar.
The one thing that's never been nice with Hifiman for me is the comfort, the weight technically. Their headphones are HEAVY and from the HE-400/500 that I've tried before and very nearly kept it, as much as I love the bass on them, I couldn't keep them on for more than an hour before neck sore.

I gave it time, really. After 3 weeks of wearing it almost everyday, I still get neck sore. So....

From my experience, don't ever, ever, use USPS. You think our Skynet/PosLaju is horrible? USPS is horrendous.

When I was at my wife's house in the US, the USPS people were not only late to deliver my stuff but they LEFT it on the front door of our house WITHOUT pressing the damn door bell despite being obvious there are people inside. What da fuq. Luckily at that time, the orders were just some cheap presents for Christmas. Imagine if it was something more expensive, mampus lah.

Yeah, the treble is one thing that I didn't like about the HE-400/500. Eventhough they are very capable in EQing, taming the treble helps and all but like I said the weight is just crazy. Perhaps I have a weak neck but oh man, I've never heard of anyone not feeling that neck sore at least for the first 2 weeks.

Not normal practice, it's not supposed to be like that. When I ordered my X1 and K702 Annies with FedEX, they actually called my wife's phone before they arrived. Also rang the door bell.

Usually the tax should be around 10%, the last time I brought in a headphone from Amazon was the DT770 Pro. I was taxed 10% eventhough I was expecting 15% (import 5% and sales tax 10%). Don't know why they taxed me that much only but whatever, the cheaper the better right?
