why does he sell a locked phone in the first place without even confirming whether the turbosim works?
or is it that u updated your phone to firmwre 2.2 without prior knowledge of what it is gonna do to a locked phone? and you sound like the guy who called me up just now |

guys i need a little help here too.
my friend from aus (sydney) got two 16gb iphone 3g for me today. it seems that its a locked unit but he was able to use the iphone with his optus sim card without the turbo sim. but when he tried his friends sim card from another operator it cannot be used. does it mean its locked to optus ? hes coming back to malaysia this saturday so all he has to do is bring the phone to optus and ask them to unlock it for $80 ? how long would it take for the unlocking process and will he have any problems getting optus to unlock it because he bought it from another phone shop ? |

bro, i think optus prepaid need to topup AUD80 in order to be unlocked. The prepaid sim card need to make at least one call. Optus will call u back or sms to inform u that ur phone being unlocked. Unlocking the iphone needs about 5-10 days.
I ever asked in lyn if the iphone got bring back to our country while optus havent inform the user whether is unlocked but our moderator close my thread. |

meaning i ever opened a new thread regarding aussie iphone but closed by moderator. What i had understood is that time aussie optus offer prepaid iphone 3g. However, in order to obtain fully unlocked, the user have to topup AUD80 and wait optus for informing the user by call or sms like tat.
The question is today i topup AUD80 but the next day i am flying back to Malaysia or other countries. Wondering my iphone will be unlocked as my iphone is out of aussie. |

sry bro. tat i dunno. unless ur friend ever make at least a call in optus using the iphone. else the phone most probably will be locked.
I had search some info bout my question. Got 1 guy from indon got the iphone from aussie and unlocked after a few days in his country. Hence, i believe it can be unlocked while the iphone has been made a call in aussie, the telco will trace the imei and register. Here's the glitch or should say procedure. 1. Optus prepaid iphone 3g--topup AUD80 for fully unlocked else is only sim unlocked like US AT&T. 2. Make atleast a call in order for the telco to register imei serve under unlocked. 3. Wait for 5-10 days for it to be unlocked, Optus will give u a call or sms. It is possible to be unlocked in other countries just if the iphone ever made a call in aussie. Optus offer unlocked iphone too. Postpaid plan. It is officially unlocked from the box. |
