Perhaps one would consider the possibilities of fixes beyond DFU and restores, people. Not every scenario necessarily calls for clean restores, even IF there isn't any data at stake. I suppose not many share this view, but it can be fun sometimes solving similar problems without resorting to restores, DESPITE the fact that restores are indeed the fool-proof fixes most of the time.

@ davvycroix, please refer to my response in iMac24's identical support thread. Thanks.

P.S. I know the 'For Dummies' threads are there for a reason, but clearly when people ask questions like this it's obvious they either don't know what to be looking at, or they don't understand what they're looking at. If you feel irritated by questions like this because they aren't looking at the guides provided, it would a lot more helpful if you just answered their questions instead of one-lining. Have some patience if you're gonna try to help anyone in here. nod.gif

Hey Sam, heard alot of good things about you given that you're not above 20 years old and also very well-verse with how the iPhone works. I can see that in your answers. Great Stuff.

Btw, one suggestion. If you think that the iPhone For Dummies does not hold good infos, do provide a better thread with solid materials as i'm not in depth as you can be to be honest. Do up a new thread if you can and i would gladly ask the mod to pin up your thread.

Sorry for the Off Topic..

Thank you for your input, David. I hope my earlier statement did not mislead anyone into assuming that I see these guides as inadequate. As a matter of fact, they are outstandingly comprehensive and provide a more-than-sufficient resource of information for our community's users, many of which are courtesy of you, mate. Cheers smile.gif

I'd like to rephrase my rants towards the few inconsiderate 'helpful' people who lurk around threads like this. Basically, my point is rather simple. When threads like David's are already pinned up with clear, unmistakable titles which cry "Read Me!", and yet threads like this still pop up, it's obvious that these guys seek specific advice and guidance for their respective situations. I'm only suggesting, that instead of providing one-line, empty responses linking back to these guides which would obviously invite "Yea, I saw that BUT....." replies from the threadstarters, we could be even more helpful by providing them with your idea of a solution immediately. And as I mentioned earlier, DFU/restores may frequently provide a viable way out, but it isn't necessarily the ideal approach for every single problem that comes along. For some of us who do read other iPhone support forums like Hackint0sh and MMi, problems presented there are nearly always returned with a unique idea of a solution. We may not have the human resources they do, but we SHOULD at the very least make an effort to become a more knowledgeable community of users by taking some time to think outside the box, or resort to actually doing a little more reading and coming up with better, more enriching answers.

The answers don't have to be interesting, but they don't have to be 'Restore' either. wink.gif
