hi guys,
what about nikon d90? if i have a budget of rm3500, will i be able to get it together with the kit lense?
i also heard prices of cameras have rise due to the appreciation value of Japanese Yen, is it true? Is it a good time to get a D90 now?
thanks in advance.

QUOTE(kucingfight @ Feb 20 2009, 10:41 PM) nope, kitlens+ D90 = rm4k From my understanding, yes the prices have already increased some wks ago, but it's only for accessories, mainly lenses, flashguns etc. But body's not affected for 3.5k, i would suggest canon 40d, get a 50mm prime lens f1.8 thanks for the quick reply! Problem is I have to stick with nikon because I recently purchased a 50mm f1.8, so if I jump ship to Canon, the nikon lense will be a waste Is D90 a better camera than a Canon 40d?

QUOTE(TheWandererX @ Feb 20 2009, 10:50 PM) Both are on par, in terms of photo quality, ISO shots, etc... but the main advantage over the 40D is that it has video mode. That's all the differences, I think. Why did you buy a lens when you don't have a body to mount it on yet? Just wondering... I have a Nikon D40 So planning to upgrade after using for 2 years. So if i raise my budget to RM4k, it is possible to get a D90 with kit lense rite? edit : what about Nikon D80? any view on it with my budget? QUOTE(TheWandererX @ Feb 20 2009, 10:57 PM) Oh. What happened to the D40's kit lens, or did you sell it off, ... or did it not come with one? I don't know much about the D40 so apologies if my question sounded dumb. Well, yes. It's possible to bargain the price down though. Counts on your bargaining skill. I still have the D40 kit lense. Planning to pass it down to my sister to let her learn around with DSLR I'll give YL photograhy a call tomorrow and see what he can offer me. What about Nikon D80? With my budget should i get that or D90?

QUOTE(TheWandererX @ Feb 21 2009, 09:21 AM) Old model, and as kucing has already mentioned, you'd be better off with a 40D than a D80. You should go down yourself to YL and ask for price. Last time I smsed and called I got ridiculous prices. Now I'im pretty confused whether to go for 40D or a D90

Just called up YL, JOne, photo selangor, all dont have d90 with kit. And prices around rm4k, with no free gift
Is this the best time to get the d90? or should i hang on a bit wait for the price to reduce?

@TheWandererX
40D was launched in 2007, as compared to d90 which was launched last year. Technology wise isn't 40d a bit outdated? I know it's a good camera, and I seldom take video, but I'm wondering will 40d become obsolete soon, since it will be almost 2 years since it launched?

QUOTE(WildChai @ Mar 21 2009, 01:00 PM) Hi, I am planning on getting my very first DSLR...been doing some research and narrowed my choices down to either Nikon D80 or D90. Since the used D80 is still pretty expensive....was thinking might as well go for the D90. Good move? Can anyone recommend where to get the D90 with the best price and free accessories? Thanks Dont go for D80, if you want go for the D90. Nowadays you can't get any more free accessories. Price is around RM4000.
