Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR Budget: Preferly under 1k, max 2k, with tripod if possible Your Location: PJ/KL Preferable brand : None Type of photography u want to do : Mainly Macro shot below 2 feet distance, potrait, landscape shot, holidays taking shot...night shot... Any specific models in mind? : None Any specific features u want? : Something a bit tough, might be a bit rough with the camera. Lightweighted (is that even possible?) Generally, I know nuts about dslr, but got poisoned into taking macro shots. Most experince with slr was with an old EOS 605. Planing to get more info on dslr and recommended model to start my research on it

QUOTE(TheWandererX @ Dec 17 2008, 11:19 AM) Under 1k? Fairly impossible.
If you ask me - I think you can settle with two cheap setups: a 1000D with EF 50mm f/1.8 (for shooting macro, landscape, the kit lens will help you do portrait and the holiday taking ones) or
Sony a200 with a 50mm f/1.8 too. If I'm not wrong though, Sony's 50mm f/1.8 is a bit expensive.
EDIT: Left out another choice - D60 with 50mm f/1.8. Fairly expensive setup though. Thanks for the info, just wondering if there any cheap good dslr around Budget wise might be able to increase as I am not getting it soon, but now I have some ideas what to know for.

At this moment I am leaning towards Canon camera, but will it be user-friend using manual focus instead of auto-focus? Can be a bit frustrating to get the auto-focus focusing on what I want instead of what its thinks I want, then again technology have changed a lot compare to the one I used to use... Guess I am a bit of old school
