Think you better get D90 compared to D80 because it quite an old model and D90 has quite alot of improvement
*
D80 is really out of the topic ? but D80 is really affordable ... rm2800+ for 18-135 .. d90 offers 18-105 kit lens right ? whats the budget we are talking about here (for d90) ?
im not a nikon nor canon fan.. as im new.. but it seems people always favour canon over nikon (if the price difference is not too big)
if d90 has improved alot from d80, how about 50d from 40d ..and 40d from 30d ?

It's REALLY hard to find a D70 in the market now, because it has stopped production for so long already.

With RM1.4k you can get a Sony a200 kit. Go for it, but if you can increase your budget to Rm2k, you can choose from the 1000D or D60.
Agreed with Deca - increase your budget and get a D90.

Or if you're a die-hard Canon fan, get a used 40D kit. Very cheap already since the release of the 50D.
To buy what? Where is your preferred spot?

Elaborate a bit more and we might be able to help you.

D90 is very good, I must say, it has quite a lot of differences from the D80, which is very old already.

50D has improved a bit from 40D, 40D has improved a bit from 30D. Not sure about the 30D but their specifications are quite closely-knitted.
Lowyat, Digital Mall, Pertama Complex, these few places offer the best prices. If you really want to go to Mid Valley, I'm sure the prices there would be more expensive than the prices Lowyat/DM/Pertama has to offer because there's more price competition there and the rent for a shoplot in Mid Valley is much more expensive.

but really i am a beginner here.. and i want to buy my very first DSLR..
i can afford a D90 but if im not going to benefit the most out of it because im still very new then i would rather buy something cheaper in the meantime and upgrade lens / body later...and the difference in price for d80 and d90 is more than rm1000. so maybe i need something which can satisfy me... or is sufficient for me to learn ... and use for around 1-2 years?

are 400D or 450D in the discussion??? are they reasonably worth the price and suitable for beginners ?
i definitely dont want to get stucked with d60 and MF all the time... >.<

thanks

hmm...
i am new to dslr a year ago so i had the same idea just like yours
get a normal and play then upgrade it later
so i got myself a D60
7 months later...i decided to sell it away and get D90
maybe you think you are new, dont know anything about dslr
well...is not hard to learn and is quite easy to pick up
if you can afford D90...got for it

If so, then go for the Nikon D90 or the Canon EOS 40D/50D. This body will last you forever if you don't intend to upgrade to a FF.

400D/450D shouldn't be in the discussion - because they only have minor improvements over the 1000D, so if you really want an entry-level one, go for the 1000D.
Panasonic Lumix LX3 or FZ-28. These two have best picture quality.

well i guess i have sort of decided D80 over D90 , considering i can save another rm1000+ maybe for a flash or something like that..
a forumer quoted me rm2900 for new D80 18-135mm kit, anybody thinks its a bad idea ?

Should - unless you can find a cheaper body + lens combo. In my opinion, bargain it down a bit more (if it's used of course) or if it is new go for it.

I personally would go for the D90 over the D80 as it's newer and while I'm not sure of the details I do know that there are some significant improvments over the 80, one being HD video recording.

new.. of course.. haha dont want my first dslr to be a used unit.. hehe ..

Don't greed for the tripod ad cleaning kit. I think they will most probably give you China cleaning kit and Digieye, and these two are not worth getting.

D90 is a newer cam, but with additional functions that only adds fun IMO... Newer processors bla bla bla some of these are just marketing.
If you already have a budget limit, then D80+Flash will be much better than D90 without flash.

What about a D90 with HD video over a D80 without HD video recording capabilities?  icon_idea.gif
...But I don't take videos very often anyways  doh.gif

HD ... not that importnat is it ? cant see myself doing much of recording i guess... its just that...they said the new sensor is much better in low light...oh well.... there's always something better ...just the matter of price..
