for a trash around camera, basically enough to take pictures by kids and not painful to the heart and pocket if it breaks. like those kodak instant cameras but digital type. blush.gif

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Digital Camera
Budget : RM 1k region
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Canon or Sony
Type of photography u want to do : normal and scene
Any specific models in mind? : Sony T700, Canon 870 Is , Canon Powershot SX10Is
Any specific features u want? : I take photos a lot. So looking for quality, consistency and durability  smile.gif

Between those brands, at 1k, I would go for the W-series Sony instead of the T-series. Furthermore, you mentioned 1k, and the T700 is much more than that. However, at 1k, the best buy IMO is the fuji f100fd going for RM999/- at the moment.

I'm planning to buy but then tight budget..any good recommendation for a beginner? I'm newbie...please advise..

I heard that lens for sony alpha will be more expensive compare with nikon.. but then body for nikon will be slightly expensive than sony alpha.. in long term..nikon will be more economic right?
*
well, as a beginner, depends whether you have been vaccinated from the poison. if you think you have some immunity to the poison, then lens would not be a big issue and when you are no longer a beginner (means you understand all the different lenses and what they can do for you), then I guess upgrading to something else may be in the works. so, don't worry too much ...

i would suggest, what are your friends using? ikut saje ... (but i personally went for the A200 even when non of my friends are using Sony and majority are Nikon with a few Canon users)

If you are already on a tight budget, then you better not get a Film SLR. I think you will have a budget problem when it comes to printing your pictures. Get a DSLR, hunt for a used Nikon D40 or a Sony A100 (search ebay, I think there's someone in Australia selling for less than 1k and someone in Malaysia selling for slightly more than 1k). Maybe tough to find it at that price. (Learn use DSLR, SLR too expensive to be used to "learn"). Just my opinion ... icon_rolleyes.gif

hi all, i'm planning to get a digicam as a birthday gift to my friend... but i'm not so familiar with digital compact camera since i'm using DSLR... can anyone suggest me which one is the best with my budget?
*
1,500 is a tough price point in my opinion. Have a Ixus but after having a DSLR, the Ixus sure looks bad for the price. I was also looking at that price point before and narrowed it down to Panasonic LX-3 and Canon G10 but found a cheaper DSLR ... so rest is history. The G10 is a very nice PnS (but beyond 1,500). Why not consider a RM999 FujiFilm f100d?

Does D60 offer more feature than A200 ? Whats the main different between this 2 model ? Can u let me know the exact price of this 2 model ?  smile.gif

Look like D60 > A200  , might go for it .
*
my way to select ... he heh heh ...

(1) What are the majority of your friends who are into DSLRs using ... get the same so that maybe can borrow their lens rclxms.gif
(2) If #1 is unknown or none, then go to shop and hold the camera, take a few shots and see if the ergonomics is suitable for you and also whether it feels good (to you, don't let salesman talk)
(3) If #1 and #2 also fail, then look at price vs feature lorh ...

IMHO, most entry level DSLR gives about same picture quality, it is mainly how you use it ... (BTW, I went against #1, didn't really do #2 and did #3 only laugh.gif )

I want to work for your company. Family day can get new DigiCam! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Only ones I know at that range are Casio, Kodak and Sony (all around RM399 or thereabouts). There's also Vivitar which I think can go less than that ...

any advice guys?

mainly im undecided to get either the sony h50 or sony a200/300..
*
Somehow if you are prepared to carry a prosumer, might as well go with the A200/300. Only thing is that the H50 is still slightly smaller lar ... tongue.gif Oh, of course, the "hassle" of maintenance once you start to exchange lens, this and that accessories and blah blah blah ... it can get expensive whistling.gif whistling.gif

Yup, Sony DSLRs can only take Sony Alpha/KM lenses.
*
Sony DSLRs can take Sony, Carl Zeiss, KM, Tamron, Sigma, heard that there are Tokina and with right adapters even Nikon AI lens.
