After doing some searching i found out D60 and A200 are suitable for beginner like me.but i wanna make the best out of my money , i would like to know what the best i can get with the range below 1.5k and 2k and 2.5k.I'm not sure about the exact price of this 2 model as well.I wonder which will make it out of this 2 model and what model does TS suggest beside this 2.

Does D60 offer more feature than A200 ? Whats the main different between this 2 model ? Can u let me know the exact price of this 2 model ?

RM2700 can get you a new 40d body. 18-55mm kit lens is only about RM15x   

Regarding your statement above, i don't recall seeing a major price difference between Sony lenses of the same specs over the other brands. One might argue that there are less sony lenses available at this point of time but with the Alphas selling like hot cakes, i suppose we'll see more accessories and lenses being added to the fleet soon.

From my last check on Yamiya, the sony lenses are pretty well priced and the 3rd party lenses are priced similiarly to the Nikon mount and Canon mounts.

Again, be it an A200, a D60 or a 1000D, there's no clear winner who is better than the other. The differences in quality is subjective and what matters most would be which allows you better control over the camera, the way the buttons are place, the way the grip is shaped. Having a comfortable feel on your camera will be one of the most important thing when it comes to choosing an entry level DSLR.

i told my friend about the Lumix LX3 which TheWandererX told me before. then my friend told me i should better off get the Nikon D60, sony alpha a200 or Canon eos 1000D if im not mistaken. But then i thought that the DSLR wouldnt be able to make me take my own picture(like taking pics with phone camera), unlike the LX3. I'm also quite new to photography and never really owned a camera (the only camera i actually owned was a 3.2mp phone camera). But i actually liked the features on the DSLR that can make me adjust all the settings. tho, the Lumix also can adjust right ? but compared to the image quality, i found that the D60 did a better job than LX3 (obviously shouldnt it ? ). and the a200 is also more cheaper than LX3. thus making me more confused now.

Quite confused here.. help me please.

For roughly the same price, should I go for the Canon EOS 1000D or Nikon D60? Noob here venturing in DSLR so trying not to splash too much cash on the 1st purchase. The D60 comes with some extras like tripod and cleaning kit.

well i guess i have sort of decided D80 over D90 , considering i can save another rm1000+ maybe for a flash or something like that..
a forumer quoted me rm2900 for new D80 18-135mm kit, anybody thinks its a bad idea ?

Looking for a slightly more advanced camera to replace my aging Ixus 750. Interested in the more advanced features of DSLRs but not ready to use such bulky units, as I often take pictures while mountain hiking, etc where large, heavy cameras are a big no-no. Currently looking at Panasonic DMC-LX3. Any sifus here have any recommendations?
