It might be possible though, to copy the DVD to an external hard disk and install from the hard disk instead.

I was thinking of this also...DVD quite slow and i need to boot it up to repair active partition coz i'm currently migrating my partitions from one drive to another...heck lots of work.

I might not be much of a help, but who these days don't even own a DVD drive ? Gone are the days of CD-RWs... Your PC either had a DVD drive but it can't function, or perhaps your PC is seriously old, and most likely unable to handle Vista.

Again, there could be other ways to install Vista without its DVD but you can get a DVD drive for just RM60+ ! A DVD burner for just RM80 +

you can install xp first into a partition and then install vista in a different partition or upgrade ur xp. you have to copy the vista setup files to your hard disk first tho.

I remembered back then that Vista RTM was released to multiple CD version. You could call Microsoft and ask them for the CD version, don't know if it's still available for SP1 disk...

Tsk... tsk... tsk...

Couldn't you just wait until you get a DVD drive?? Its not like there is a lack/limited units in the country.

You prefer going all the trouble just to get Vista DVD in CD form ? You are (my opinion) wasting so much time and effort... when you could just be installing it in a breeze under 20 minutes and enjoying it. smile.gif

doh.gif He was so desperately want to install, but don't want to invest money to buy DVD-ROM drive, so I just suggest what's best for him, plus it's original, not pirated whatsoever, or if he's in university participating in Microsoft MSDNAA initiative, he could just download the CD images off...

My bad. I just think it is such a small problem that will be complicated for no reason.

Can't get a DVD drive ? Gosh... OK then, the hunt to get Vista in CD form continues.

Kinda hard to do it tho. I tried it using WinXP when a laptop had it's DVD drive died and it won't boot from an external one. Trust me, it's not worth the hassle. Better borrow a dvd drive for a while.

If you can copy through friend computer DVD drive, get yourself a big thumbdrive and follow everything in http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/181538-u...humb-drive.html to the letter.
