The firmware itself is very stable and there are significant improvements on performance. This includes speedier app loading (SMS, Notes, Contacts, etc) for example.

Those who want to JB though should be wary of jb apps/mods that are not 100% compatible with the new fw for now. There's still app conflicts going on so if you want to be on the safe side, give it a week or two more for these developers to sort out the kinks.

Other than that, fw2.2 is most definitely worth the upgrade.

Yeap, a big leap compared to the 2.0 > 2.1 changes back then. Only thing now which is bogging down is 2.2 users in Malaysia's the stupid CallerID fix issue.

Only time will tell. smile.gif

Yes, its worth, much more stable compare to other version and in terms of software that we get through JB, we need to wait a while because those sofware will be update and compatible with ver. 2.2..

yes its not to long to wait because its always been updated very fast.

p/s: the one thing that make me like it was "EMOJI"...eventhough other phone cannot see it when we put that emoji but if you show it to your friend i think they somehow want to buy iphone because of that emoji, hehe.

Personally, I have a very good feeling about fw 2.2 in terms of stability and the processing speed and not to forget the battery life.

So far no really noticable problems except cydia's keyboard cant be mute and also the callerID fix problem. Other than that, everything is just perfect.

Things that's been really noticable is they have really improved the calls drop problem. So far after updating to fw 2.2, i've YET to face a single problem of calls drop. rclxms.gif

yup. it is worth it. i notice every time my signal drop to 0 (no signal) it will automatically searching for the signal again just like resetting the phone itself. notice the durability for battery and the speed of turning off the phone is both increase.

sad to say that, yet never experience stability on the phone. appstore app still sometimes crash and bugs where app have been updated via phone but in itunes still showing i have a new update for the same app. 3 times re-download the same app and same version? come on.

and yet, the new feature for street view? well, Malaysia will have to wait more just like the early routing issue in the pre-install google map. 1 year and more maybe. dun ask me

Upgraded mine yesterday. Works like a charm. System is damn responsive now. Will hold off the Winterboard installation for awhile coz I like the snappy performance too much.

So yes, worth upgrading. icon_rolleyes.gif

I've decided to go back to 2.1. The new 2.2 isn't noticeably faster than 2.1, and some stuff are broken like wifitoggle, that strange mail icon, unstable Cydia, and swirlymms doesn't work(for me).

Anyway...I just finished downloaded the firmware2.2, and yes there is an improvement! before that i was at 2.0.2 and after updated, my signal strength actually shoot up frm 2-3 bar to 5 bar...so, i guess this update helps!

Hi all,

I don't know where to ask my Q's, but here seems appropriate.
iPhone: 3G 8GB
Origin: Aussie
Unlocked: officially unlocked
Jailbroken: no
f/w: 2.1
Operator: maxis

Tried to upgrade f/w to 2.2; but end result "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1013)." like below;

I've tried
1. restore button in iTunes(with USB and iTunes icon on iPhone); An unknown error occurred (1013)
2. DFU mode(black screen on iPhone); An unknown error occurred (1013)
3. uninstall/install iTunes. Normal restore/DFU; An unknown error occurred (1013)

Please help.

How did you restore? Pressing the restore button and wait itunes to download the file or you already have the firmware file? If you use the 2nd method i.e using already downloaded firmware file, can you write down the file name as firmware file for 1st gen and 2nd gen are different.

Hi,

I restore by pressing restore button and wait itunes to download the file.
BTW, I'm in the midst of formating my laptop with Win XP Pro SP2, install audio, video, wireless and iTunes.
