Let say , I got window XP install on my 250GB hard disk
I plan to buy another hard disk and 320GB and install window XP into it.

If I start my computer , will I be able to select and choose both either 250GB window XP and 320GB window XP ?

Hmm..whats the point having 2 same Operating Systems?
Yes you can..i think. This is called Dual Boot. But mostly people do different Operating Systems like XP and Vista..Why you want XP and XP?

Because I want to have a back up.Let say if this window XP got problem or infected virus , I still can use another hard disk window XP to do my work.
I wonder why , is it no one do it before ?

I Think 2 separate HDD should be straight forward. Just install both XP into both HDD then choose from setup with HDD to boot 1st.

u can dual boot wit 2 OS on 2 different hdd.
u can dual boot if install on same hdd.

it will boot the OS depending which HDD u plug in.
if plug in both, it will always boot the OS dat u previously boot in.

If you afraid your windows xp got problem or infected by virus or system file corrupted, try use the norton ghost instead of format your entire pc. But even you have both os in your pc but different HDD, if you got infected by virus, you still have infected both of your HDD.

I've done installing 2 XP in different HD before.
And the result is: the 1st Window got corrupted.
missing some file, forgot what file.

i actually have XP installed in both of my HDD..
80Gb+ 320GB..
no problem whatsoever..

let say u have disk A and B.
just keep the installed windows in disk A and remove that disk before installing new window in disk B..
so ur new window folder will be @ c:\windows..

Another alternative way is to install Virtual PC or VMWare.
U can simply add as much Virtual PC u 1...and whack it off by few click and reinstall with few click.
But make sure if you want to do a new experiment software, do it in virtual pc, any problem it just hit that virtual pc and not your original OS.
