actually, i felt the best way is to uninstall all the damn anti virus software.
i personally not been using anti virus software, after understanding how a virus works.
sometimes, u got all this antivirus software oso your comp kena virus, then have to reformat. mights well dont use anti virus rite?

and if you dont use anti virus, there will be no notification for you about your comp is attacked by virus. but that doesnt mean your comp is dangerous. if you got anti virus, watever device u plug in ur comp, sure got notification of AUTORUN32.exe this kinda stuff come out. but it is not harmful to your computer rite?

conclusion, take off the damn anti virus software. i've been fine and my comp workign pretty well all the time. maybe once in a year i format it, just to clear some stuff. thats about it.

u install antivirus, but if kena malware or spyware then have to purchase adi. damn stupid. mights well dun give out free anti virus

moreover, if you ever own a PC using Window OS. your comp definitely have virus. whether u got anti virus or not. i can assure that.

Its not really the Anti Virus Software faults. You need to configure by yourself la.About Norton, yes Norton old version make computer very slow, but now no more. But at least,if you got Anti Virus it will protect you rather than making your computer more vulruneable. If thats so why most of bank, gaming company use Anti Virus..etc?

banks and company use anti virus bcoz they need it. their files are important. the difference between they all and us is, they got money to pay for GENUINE software which got full protection.

but we as normal consumer wouldnt want to pay for that, and that is why we only have free software to use. if free software to use oso can kena virus. i really wont go n download and use it. is really a waste of time for me. i rather spend half n hour reformating my comp.

im saying that anti virus is useless based on the point of we all as consumer. not company and banks. im working now, so i do understand the need to anti virus in company PC, but not personal. hhaha

You sure love to format your pc. I haven't got the need to format it even after 5 years, thanks to a combination of good computing practice, good firewall, antivirus, antispyware and secured browser.

LOL... my reaction is exactly the same as the look on my avatar when I read his replies. And btw, my PC has been relatively problem-free since day 1, thanks to the softwares I mentioned above, and they're all totally FREE.

To TS, warez sites are full of trojan horses and viruses. You shouldn't blame AVG for blocking them, it's trying to protect you. But I advise you to get a better antivirus. AVG is a really weak antivirus - it gives a lot of false alarms and yet lets through a lot of common viruses. And when it does detect the viruses, it cannot remove or delete the infected files.

Prevention is better than cure... ever heard of this phrase? From what you've practice the method you use is "Dah kene, then cure by reformat". For you info, there's some malwares out there in the wild that if it infected your computer, it will leave some bad sector...

Also if you've got paypal @ similar account, better watch out. Keylogger, rootkit type of infection may make your account zero already...

Honestly speaking, what is a reformat for?

It is used when your system files are SO badly corrupted that even a normal fix wouldn't be able to settle the issue as it has totally destabilize your PC.

Honestly, this thread ought to be closed as it serves NO purpose at all.

Your points are contradicting anyway. For Winblowz Windows , you'll need an antivirus. Its a must have as usually there are hidden trojans/worms in a site that could be harmful even though you're taking all the precautionary steps

If you can't afford to fork out and buy genuine software , then stop using Windows. Use Linux , ubuntu is a very good alternative to Windows. So , then you don't have to worry about using pirated software and such !

i just do my own reseach... I think i know why the site got blocked... The site basically got no virus, hacking stuff , no malware , no nothing.. It has a forum 3 times bigger(or more ) than lowyat.net , but certain companies ( eg. record company, movie , music) paid some famous antivirus to simply block all these "sites" which make them(the record/movie/game companies) "unhappy"(I belive people in here is able to understand why these companies is unhappy).. This also applies to kapersky , norton virus , etc.. alot alot of antivirus is involve wif this ..

Lastly if u want to know whats a warez site ... pm me... Moderators are very sensitive with this.. DOnt wory, is not something "bad" .

I think just abit out of the topic about unblock certain site.

but anyway
@bergeryap87 nice to heard that ur comp doesn't have much CRITICAL virus so far.(might coming soon).in some point i agree with you, the chances to hit by serious virus are abit low for normal user. Not like big organisation, if their comp doesn't have any anti virus, they wound prob die in 1 day.
But i cant see any problem with using anti-virus software. u said that u can fix all the small viruses by urself? becoz u cant find those BIG one. and you dun even know it, virus doesn't means to be mess around ur comp, it can do much more than that right?
BTW i swear, i would prob never accept any files from you comp; if u give it to me, or send to me or whatever files from ur comp. (lucky i am not ur fren) ... haha NO OFFEND

Pls learn to read properly. His AVG is blocking the warez website that he wants to visit, because it was deemed dangerous. All he has to do is uninstall AVG, simple as that.

And why are you promoting the software everywhere? You're not getting commisions to do so, are you?

Gosh...This is the most foolish thread I had ever seen in LYN. Please stop asking help to solve problem regarding WAREZ, either you attempt to enter the website or you're trying to download them.

Cracked software and keygen are treated as malware by every antivirus. Even though you had accessed the WAREZ website successfully and downloaded those WAREZ, AVG antivirus will whack them out as well.

For those irresponsible internet users who mentioned that they NEVER install antivirus and any security protection tools, do you know that you are trying to harm other internet users as well? What you are doing is merely selfish, if your machine stayed offline all the time, it's your business. But when you go for online, please, install antivirus and antispyware. it's not about to protect yourself only, but everyone as well.

I think the Anti-virus programmer team not so foolish to create such program to ate RAM heavily, they know most of phishing tactic, spyware, malware etc..and threatning websites..so its for your own pc good..and i think most of anti-virus do not cause lag when gaming....maybe to satisfy this old mentality people some companies even create Gamer's Edition of Anti-virus

the way you worded it, makes it sound like a sex act laugh.gif

anyway, here's a little something for those still thinking antivirus is useless

From: http://miekiemoes.blogspot.com/2008/08/i-d...use-i-have.html
CODE
I don't use an Antivirus, because I have never been infected...

... said the user while his computer was crippled with malware. His answer didn't make sense anyway, because how could he know that he was (never been) infected if no scanner would alert him?
He asked for my help because his Internet Explorer browser crashed frequently and his computer was crawling. Although he did get popups as well, he didn't really see this as a problem because he had a good popup blocker. O_o
No way malware was causing this (according to him). It was always been like that..... (so you can imagine how long he was infected already...)
And yes, I've found malware from years ago: DollarRevenue crap, EliteMedia, leftovers from the Alcan worm, and a recent Zlob Media variant.

Time to make him aware that his computer really is infected - so the only way to show the facts is to install an Antivirus... which he did.
He was shocked once the scanner started to detect and delete the files. Funny part here was, a HUGE amount of infected files were present in his Limewire shared/complete folder (because of the Alcan Worm, which was luckily already disabled). So it was an extra shock for him since more than 1000 files were already detected and deleted there.
After all, we could clean everything and I'm sure he would never uninstall his Antivirus again. :-)
A shocktherapy is really needed once in a while.

Its NOT entirely the product, its the people using the product.

You have AV...firewall...the whole 9 yards of security apparatus, yet...you download craps all over the internet, you download risky attachment, run unsigned-apps, open multiple ports on your PC for gaming,P2P,IM etc...

when the PC becomes a whore-den for viruses, the AV solution becomes the scape goat?

Think smile.gif
