ReadyBoost at external HD, possible?

 hi, is it possible to make my external HD to work like ReadyBoost, means as other Cache memory place i've tried before, but it can't but the ReadyBoost can only work at my Thumbdrive.. or do i need another software to make my external HD to become like cache memory place.

last time when using XP, i can place my cache at my ext HD using a software, and it performs well..
