my dg loves to wiggle his belly while he walks from one point to another... it's very cute but he does this almost everyday.. read that he's maybe trying to leave his scent around the room... hopefully this is the only reason his gliderwalk has changed. any other thoughts? cheers!

meet DD. or Don Demetrio. Only had him for 1 week n 9 days. Still crabbing but gradually progressing. hope to be best of friends soon! (prays)

meet DG. Don Giancarlo. He does gliderwalk as a partime hobby now. fashionista wannabe.
The look good. So which method have you been doing with DD?

hello hello.... i am new here. i am researching on my next pet... sugar glider. but i am a little confused why some ads says "sugar glider for breeding" ... does this mean this glider is old ?
Don't be blinded by the cheap price and the usual saying of "Buy cheap adults, then can get tame joeys"There is always a risk. Sometimes the adults may be unhealthy and with parasites. And if the adults are not tame and you only buy them just coz you want the joey, you will meet a speed bump and give up. The joey would most likely be as wild and unfriendly as the parents. And the wild adults may even attack you if you touch the joeys. This is some of the mistakes people do when buying breeding pairs. Adults can be tamed, but it takes a longer period and it can be frustrating for people with the lack of patience.
If you are serious in taming an adult and not just wanting it to breed, then adopt an adult that needs a home. If not, start off with joeys to experience the wonderful pain and love a joey could give you

Hey guys! Just now went to visit Dr Jenny.. She said my girl has mites on her.. That's why she keeps scratching untill she loss her fur cause of itchiness.. Dr Jenny gave her injection and 2 weeks later for 2nd injection.. Luckily, the price is reasonable too.. My dad din't scold me.. Heheh~
My boy's fur doesn't look really nice too.. Dr Jenny said is not neccesery for injection first.. Let her check 1 more time after 2 weeks.. Dr Jenny said their health is ok, the only problem is mites..
Any tips can share with me? How to keep mites away from them.. improve their fur qualities and quantity.. Nice colour coat..
Luckily you go to see Dr Jenny. Do monitor your boy coz he may also have mites as it is contagious. Mites comes from gliders that have been kept in dirty conditions or with animals that already have mites. So it could have been from the breeder you bought from.My boy's fur doesn't look really nice too.. Dr Jenny said is not neccesery for injection first.. Let her check 1 more time after 2 weeks.. Wash all the cagestuff with mild detol, then sun it for an hour or 2. This is to kill of whatever mites are in the cage.

welldone.
mites?? as wat i know sugar gliders dont have mites, seen DR.Jenny said ur girl has mites on her mean got mites on her la
Clean cages are necessary for all sugar gliders. This is important so that mites and bacteria do not infect or infest the gliders. Keep all toys and the wooden wheel clean for al the time.
and dont ever put fruits or threats in the bonding pouch
Can wan. Human also can have mites mah. Mites normally come from other pets or from wild animals. Like hedgehogs, it can come from wood shavings, and some mites comes from mealworms and crickets..... mites?? as wat i know sugar gliders dont have mites, seen DR.Jenny said ur girl has mites on her mean got mites on her la

Thank you everybody who support me!!
Now I can sleep peacefully at night.. I put apple cubes in the bonding pouch is my biggest mistake.. And fruits in the cage over night.. I just keep them in the new cage for 3 weeks only.. And I wash the pouch often.. Shouldn't be too dirty.. But got some fruit flies wonder around the cage.. because of the fruits over night.. hehe~ I will not put fruits overnight again anyway.. Will they get hungry at midnight? So what can I put in the cage overnight?
That day I went Pet safari, I saw bunch of suggies climbing on the apples.. then sleeps together in same pouch.. The pouch seems dirty.. I don't think the workers there would clean them often.. But how come they still got nice fur ar? and they looks healthy.. But mine.. I just don't understand..
There is no harm into putting fruits overnight. You just have to make sure to clean it up right after you wake up. The mites are not attracted to fruits or uneaten fruits. They want to chew and eat our pet's skin rather than eat fruits. Now I can sleep peacefully at night.. I put apple cubes in the bonding pouch is my biggest mistake.. Yes, gliders get hungry when they are at their peak time. Since nocturnal, so they active and eat at night lo. In the wild, gliders are seen active on trees and hunting for insects and birds at night.
The joeys in PS, the fur looks nice coz it is young, still considered new fur. The condition of the fur is not really noticeable now coz they just got it. If the joeys have been there for a few weeks, can see some poor conditioned ones. Also, they don't have mites.

i have a quite much questionnaire in my head now,,,
1. My SG (mine is Haru) alway play with the recycled newspaper underneath it,,, If he eat it, is that the sign that he is hungry?? Is it dangerous for him??
He is not hungry. He is curious and wants to try and taste it. Gliders won't eat it.
2. When do i need to change the littertray??? Is it once a week?? Or until unease smell come out??
Best is to change everyday if you use normal newspaper. If recycled bedding, once a week.
3. Can i put a pool (like put the water into an ice crean box and put into my Haru cage) coz from my research, SG can swims,,,,(just asking of curiosity,,,probably i will never do this)
Gliders shouldn't be allowed to swim. Yes, they can swim but very short moment. In the wild, they may have to jump off a tree into some water to try and get away from a predator, they can paddle away to a safe spot. But they are not meant to swim. They cannot stay floating in the water for long. I know 3 owners who lost their gliders due to accidentally drown in pail, aquarium and toilet.
Also, once wet, a glider takes a long time to completely dry the fur. Joeys or gliders with weak immune system may get sick from cold if they were to swim or take a bath.
4. Can i put Haru into a transparent ball for he move freely in my room b4 trying to free him without it another time?? Is it bad?? Can it make him dizzy??
Who gave you the idea of putting a glider in a ball? It is only mean for hamsters. It is torture, cruel to put them in a plastic ball to roll around. It would hurt their backs, give them sore noses and hurt their feet as they are not meant to be in small plastic balls.
5. I quite confused about the HPW feeding,,,,until now, I give Haru eat the liquid HPW. But from the reading that when i put the HPW in the freezer, it will be like an ice cream right?? So how can i took it?? Just korek while it is like an ice cream, or i need to let it melt in the room temperature first??
Scrape it out. I think if you leave it to melt and only scoop out, if you do it a few times, you will contaminate the HPW with bacteria.... who knows what would happen later. It is the same with all frozen food.
6. Usually our room is dusty rite?? Is it safe for SG to be freed in a room in condition like that?? Furthermore, my Haru like to lick and bite anything that he feel curious,, I quite worried if he get sick after being freed like that,,,any suggestion??
You have to make sure your room is safe. No holes, no electric outlet that is turned on, no open wires, no poisonous stuff lying around. Gliders won't lick dust unless it used to be something tasty.
7. What is the sign if Haru barking like a dog in the morning (in the pouch)?? Is he hungry?? Or want me to touch him??? Quite worried,,,
He wants attention. Gliders bark to call one another. It can give a few meanings. 1 is to warn other gliders about danger, this is normally a fast and consistent sort of barking, another is short barks with longer intervals than the 1st one, it is just a sign of communication.
8. How to clean the cage??? I want to wash it,,,but don't know how to start,,,my cage is the cage that can be separated which i buy at the petshack,,,do i need to separate it and wash it, after that dried it to the sunlight?? Or any opinions??
This is a weird question. Just wash the cage lah. Obviously you have to take out whatever accessories you have in there and wash separately.....
Emm,,,,may this will be enough for now,,,,i hope you guys can help me coz it had been just 1 week and 6 days with my Haru,,still learning about SG,,hehe,,
You can do research not only here. You can search all over the web. There is no need to wait for answers here but then it is a good start for you. Keep up on your research. He is not hungry. He is curious and wants to try and taste it. Gliders won't eat it.

Yes...u r correct.
Bt, 1st, what i wrote is "I do bath my glider too if it is really dirty(juz my own opinion)."
That mean i will only bath it mayb only 1 or twice in a year as glider will clean itself everyday and will not get dirt easily. (this dangerous action is juz my own opinion)
2nd, I dindt mean to let my glider swim. I already said that it was an accident. Erm..mayb u can refer to the post again to knw clearly
And lastly, mayb v have different view...as i'm not agree with ur last paragraph.
For example, there is a country with 100 citizen. Among this 100 people, there are only 2 professional.
So, do u thing the other 98 people will rely on the 2 professional to improve the country. The answer mayb yes or no. Every people will have different view. *(I dont agree with ur concept does nt mean u r wrong)
*All dangerous action is juz my own opinion juz like what i had wrote in bracket. (own opinion)
*All experiment take to ur glider is on ur own risk. ....(the problem is just do u dare to take the risk)<<as what i wrote in the previous post.
*really sory for all the meaningless n not informative post. Long time already didt post anything here bt once posted already look like gt 'kebakaran' happend.
Return back to my question...Anyone did tat before? I mean bring the glider into the plane.
Certain words can light up a flame. Coz there are many newbies here, we also do not want to teach wrong things to newbies. And if you said we must try things before we know if it is good or bad.... you can do that to inanimate objects, but for animals, it is not the best thing to do. I still would take caution with certain things.... like people would tell me they have fed grapes to their gliders for 10 years and no problem, or even tofu and soy.... but my own research tells me it should be limited or not fed at all..... things like that lah.Bt, 1st, what i wrote is "I do bath my glider too if it is really dirty(juz my own opinion)."

Bout bringing them on a plane.... wanna risk it? A few days ago a man got caught carrying pigeons on a plane. 1 was in his hand luggage and 2 were in his pant legs, in vitamin bottles. Is that a safe way to transport pets? Why must we risk it? What would happen to the animals if you get caught?
