i only change the FSB to 400 , all setting as default. What could be the reason that limit my processor to 3.4ghz only? It is because of
ram or i need to increase the vcore higher?

It is because of your RAMs.

Q9550 is limited to a maximum of 8.5 multiplier. Only Extreme Edition processors (among Intel procs) have completely unlocked multiplier.
So, you must raise your FSB. Get better RAM, to reach 4Ghz for example you will need RAM that can reach DDR2-940. |

try this first, Relaxed the ram timings to 5-6-6-18. Raise the ram voltage to 1.9-2.0v. AFAIK, value rams are pretty decent overclockers, at least ddr 2 900 is reachable

Luckily me have QX9650 version. So, you must raise your FSB. Get better RAM, to reach 4Ghz for example you will need RAM that can reach DDR2-940. But it only stable on 3.8GHz using Prime95 test. 1 core failed on 4GHz. |
