A variety of hardware is given for the competitors to choose from, so their setup can be the same or varies from others.

I believe MOST overclocking competition do use the same hardware to make it a fair competition, but each of the hardware may has its own batch/specialities.However,they have their own ways on how to perform or make it better/faster..

Mostly all the competitions i participate will provide the same hardwares, even the same batchs as well. The only different is the skill and luck... so luck plays an important role in the competition. Each run we will run the exact same benchmark in the given time frame, once time's up then the highest benchmark scores win or the fastest results win smile.gif

Do you even heard of hwbot.org??
It is like a competition platform open to world ocer where you could benchmark your own respective class of hardware and get credit for it or you get credit for top benchmarking score so in another word,oc competition could be had anytime and in your home laugh.gif

well bro oc competitions arnt usually meant to break world records. they are mostly marketing events where many from around the world gather to show their faces and names. it is through this and the media coverage that the organisers benefit.

wr oc attempts are mostly done at home with more prep and more time. oc compys are very time constraint and stressful unlike the own time own target at home smile.gif

personally joined many intl oc compys and won a few smile.gif
