When you own expensive stuff like laptop or something, better lock your doors, windows 24/7
one more thing, don't show to strangers that you have laptop
keep it low profile & hide your laptop where people don't expect can hide something there plus make extra lock for your house

Cheap laptop cannot do anything much
limited usage will make us vmad.gif

Extra precaution is needed to protect your laptop
Don't leave your laptop in your living room just like that
cover it with something & place it somewhere else like in a drawer or wardrobe

belive it or not, i place my laptop under my bed when i am out for a long period lol. Low profile is good, just dun let outsiders know that you are using a laptop. Choose backpacks that look like a normal backpack instead of a notebook backpack.

Yup nowadays those thiefs would aim at those users that they suspect u r packing a notebook in ur bag. They would wait until u actually leave the bag in ur car and walk off. Ya know, sumtimes we go for movies or go for fast shopping after work (notebooks are required) and we just leave our notebooks in our car.

The most important thing,
Bring your laptop where ever you go
For example, in the toilet, DON'T put your laptop on the floor
hang it where ever you can

Unfortunately I lost my ACER laptop. It was at home and I went for my job and when I came back, it was stolen. Some dirtly @#$hole stole it. It was an Acer Aspire 5740G-6979 Laptop - Dark Blue wit glossy outer cover.

My wife bought it for me from the US. God, I had chosen it after so many reviews, and now some $#@tard has stolen it. I even complained to the police and security and there seems to be limited response.

Also, I know the guy who stole is an illiterate bcos,he took away with my laptop alone and not the charger, external hard disk, my xbox game console etc. God knows what the hell he has done with that.

Guys, if anyone knows of such an Acer laptop, please do let me know. One major mark, its DVD ROM slot is broken, so when u open the DVD Drive, it will kind of fall down. So, if anyone can help me, I will be very happy and even willing to pay some reward.

God Help me.

+1 Lay low nod.gif
Still, large laptops are more conspicuous since they require larger bags.... and people seldom bring large bags unless they bring their laptop (based on personal experiences) sweat.gif
Going for a smaller notebook next time laugh.gif

That's not exactly safe leh sweat.gif
Thief who managed to enter your house surely won't have problem opening your locked room door rclxub.gif
Its kind of redundant la... I bought my Qosmio for performance and multimedia, not for portability but in the end I still carry it everywhere because scared it's stolen (my area crime rate is quite high) sweat.gif

I think we should have a list of place which most crime rates is high for the stolen laptop so we can be extra careful when we were there..

My experience..

1. Subang Parade lost HP touch X2
2. McD at jalan cheras

I doubt it's true. That device has nothing to do with laptop detector, it's just a spectrum analyser. http://www.saelig.com/whats_hot/EMC002.htm

That means cannot bring your laptop to Starbuck/Coffee Bean/Old Town White Coffee/McD/KFC to surf free wifi?

(Last time i lost my 17" toshiba laptop in a Hotel. That Hotel room's lock is just a mechanical low security lock.
Next time check in Hotel must make sure they are using electronic key card lock)

(On some car stereo, you can take out the front panel so that even the thief stole you car stereo without the front panel it will be useless.
laptop manufacturer should do something like this...laptop come with one/two or three smartcard (like astro decoder) without the smartcard it is imposible to turn on the laptop. And each laptop has its own unique smartcard).
