Yup there are radio frequency detectors that can detect the cmos battery, hard disk and laptop battery. Just google or checkout youtube for a live demonstration. This same devices are use by ghost hunters i.e. T.A.P.S. and Malaysian Seekers

I also plan to purchase this device. The RF frequency detector can be use to detect all type of electronic devices, not only ghost. Good for you to have if you go to hotels a lot. Since nowadays got a lot of hidden cam at hotels.
But the thing is the good devices are really expensive, even if purchase from Singapore. The cheaper ones can only detect high RF emissions such as bluetooth and wifi but the expensive ones can detect everything. Scary! This post has been edited by gyver: Feb 18 2009, 02:16 PM |

IMO, i think stolen laptop are also depends on luck... i mean.. its unlucky that your laptops got stolen whereas other peoples lappy didn't, so this kind of things happen by chance, even in the most safest place you keep, and still it got stolen, its not your fault, its just being unlucky. The thief can be describe as a Tiger choosing which prey to strike, and therefore its up to the predator... my sympathy to those who had their lappy stolen. I'm using a HP Pavilion dv4, ifs its ever got stolen, even i try to prevent it... i can't do anything...

there is no notebook detector. it doesn't exist. you cannot find any fooking engineer anywhere in the world who can make a device to detect the presence of a hidden notebook that has been completely switched off.
the people who lost their notebook lost them because they didn't realise they are being watched from afar, by a group of people constantly on the lookout with binoculars, motorcycles etc. if the thieves are skillful enough to build a device to detect notebook, they should be skillful enough to break into car without smashing windows since those cars are normal Protons, cheap Toyotas with old, outdated door system that can be easily picked by veteran car thieves. bottomline, cars got broken into all the time, especially cars that the owners has left their bags, boxes in them, regardless of whether they contain notebooks or not. as long as you got something in there that thieves can reasonably suspect to contain something valuable, your car will become a primary important target. period. end of story. My car was broken into twice, both without the window being smashed, just because my friends left schoolbags and handbags left inside them and none of them contain notebooks. the notebook detector is just a fooking myth, a story made up by the police as a stupid excuse for the inability to control the rampant theft situation. as long as you got something in your car that thieves can reasonably suspect to contain something valuable, your car will become a primary important target. period. end of story. Regarding the laptop detector, I guess a lot of people still don't believe until they see with their own eyes.
My friend also was quite determined that his Wifi AP connection cannot be broken into. When I went to his house and cracked his WEP in less than 1 minute he was really impressed Added on February 22, 2009, 7:32 pm QUOTE(madstone @ Feb 20 2009, 04:37 PM) Yeah, need to be watchfull also. My college friend once lost his bag when he was doing his number 2 business in a shopping mall. If I remembered correctly he hanged his bag at the toilet booth door and a hand just grab the bag from the other side. Luckily back then, we college students wasn't carrying laptop like students today.Added on February 22, 2009, 7:40 pmIn any case I also agree that there are various types of thieves. There are professionals and non a like. Professionals will use technology to minimize the time and effort while the dumb ones will use opportunity and human psychology to get their job done. Even until today, a lot of people don't know that Colex padlocks can be broken by this modified allen key. They assume that the culprit use hacksaws, skeleton keys or industrial acids. Not until a locksmith showed me this device that I understand how simpler it is to open a Colex key in less than a minute. Just one swing and there goes your padlock. Added on February 22, 2009, 7:45 pmBreaking into cars are much simpler when you use a slim jim. I know this because I use it often when I was in the states. You see, my friend always leave the keys inside the car But these stupid Malaysian criminals would rather use the rock to window method to show they are simply down to earth stupid! the way to prevent detection is: dump a damn much of (broken) hdd and cmos battery in ur car, and they will detect a bunch of things and taught the device is faulty
i think put the labtop into a lead made bag and cover with some kind of thing that prevent heat come out is easier as it prevents radiation/heat coming out. Or find a way to get that device and do some experiment try to prevent that foking device from detecting ur labtop Added on February 23, 2009, 9:11 pmhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDcqkj1nCek get slim jim videos here This post has been edited by greatgreedyguts: Feb 23 2009, 09:11 PM |
