if i'm not mistaken dunlopillo is fully imported from UK for certain models. Maybe u can ask the shop which model is fully imported one and the price that is below 4k. And then choose the best one lah.
*
most probably its made in a 3rd or 4th world countries as cost of production is lower so u can enjoy lower price...

Hi , I read the above and would like to ask if your interested in specially made for hotels type of mattresses  ? Such beds are more durable, have more and harder coils and material used are of higher quality. They are not found nor sold in retail outlets.

Pricing for some are reasonable n comparable to retail outlets as we have the qty to make up for it.

Do let me know if you have any queries.
*
for your information , hotel beds are the least costly as the majority of the hotels plan their bed budgets at the last! They ran out of funds with all those renovations costs, by the time they buy beds. There are only a few who really care to select quality beds and its costly quality beds.

Few months back I was doing some research on mattresses as well. The 1 that interest me the most is Getha.

Right now I'm using latex mattress. No need to rotate, no need to flip over. Good for people that's allergy to dust mite. If budget limited, get the 1 with thick layer of latex on the top say at least about 4-5inches and whatever spring on the lower part.
*
as long as there are no fillers & proteins inside the latex then its a good latex bed. nod.gif

You are one ignorant fool... latex foam is the most porous cool ingredient recognized as the most comfortable layer in mattress making by reputable brands in the world.

wow seems like not so expensive wat... i went to 2 shops, 1 in kota kemuning and another is MFO in subang @@(anyway i just read that MFO got bad reputation and needless to say i didn't find any 90% mattress there ><)

anyway i quite like the napure bed (i dont know which model) but it has latex on the top (looks like a pack of latex about 2-3inch stitched to the mattress) and bottom layer are spring. However the price quoted by 2 shops are about 2.5k and 3.3k both after their super duper discount of more then 50% happy.gif. Any input on this? or any good recommendation? I didn't have much time to try and notice all the beds there because i was just passing by and decided to go in and have a look. The current one kills me every single day T_T
*
go for a latex mattress brand that is properly certified and recognized worlwide.

and please do try it before you buy as you are investing it for a couple of years of use.

I tested Getha transforme series at desa petaling the other day.  Those with wool toppings were awesomely comfy.  The best of all was natural latex.  But then I ended up buying spring power because it was $400 cheaper, plus freebies and GPS gadget.

GOSH ppl just don't get it . Influenced by free gadgets and not getting what they really need and liked. And please do navigate around your bed with that GPS!

I just bought mine today at SS2. When I receive the mattress will check and let you know.

By the way, I bought king koil's Posturex 5 years ago. It was recommended by my chiropractor because i had a bad fall and hurt my back. he said king koil pocket spring mattress is good. ABout 6 months sleeping it started to sag a bit on the buttock area. Sent it back to King Koil, 2 weeks later came back...is like the same, still sagging!

I slept on it for 5 years but feel that it has sagged a lot ..any other people have problem with king koil mattress? in the end i had to throw away the mattress. When i put it against the wall, it can't even stand straight, so u can imagine like so lousy ? by the way i am not heavy just 42 kg, so the mattress is not so good ya?

I bought king koil's maharaja because the salesman told me it is harder than the posturex. I hope it's true. Otherwise...waste money lorrrrrrrr. I dare not change other brand also because chiropractor say must sleep king koil pocket spring.

Anyone got better advise?
*
you said it's recommended by your chiropractor and your last mattress sags and you're buying another model of the same brand ? What happen if it still has the same problems ? Sue your chiropractor ?? cry.gif

Angel...sorry to tell u la...Napure is fake German brand. Factory I heards somewhere in Klang.  They use a German flag and claim from Germany one.  My friend in mattress factory told me this and I also check with other people and shocked to find out they are not telling truth.  Lucky I didn't buy this brand.  Ask them to refund if really not German brand lor or else u tell them will report to Trade Ministry.  Then u can buy cheaper and better brand.

mitchell78

I observed that 98% of the mattress brands in Malaysia are locally made. This shows that Malaysia is in the forefront in mattress making experience and technology spanning more than 70 years. Malaysia is abundant in natural raw materials treasured by the international mattress community, that is why Malaysia also exports these mattresses. That 2% are imported from Asean countries. Europe, America and China.

Most of the foreign brands in Malaysia are "licensed" by their respective principles overseas. Do you know the intricacies in obtaining a brand ? There are so many criteria like financial strength, production capacities, experience, technical capacities, technical qualifications, costings, marketing.... etc etc. -- if you do not make a qualified product you do not get the brand.

I do see that they are many "licensed" brands in this country and if consumers are vary of the products, they can just "google" those brands for a background check on their overseas company (brand), and local company(manufacturer) ..current status quo.

and...... mitchell78, when are you going to pay all of us ( mattress manufacturers and suppliers ) the money you owe ???

Seriously, can recommend some VERY firm mattress and latex pillows? Not too expensive ya?
Last brand for pillows I use doesn't last more then 3 years. It becomes lumpy very fast! Before that Dunlopillow last me 10 years but can't find it so bought the current brand which is worse of all!

@Darknite,
biggrin.gif well if you want a VERY FIRM mattress they are many actually, those brands that are 2k-3.5k has it. Just visit those trade fairs or an area where there are a large cluster of furniture shops.

I suppose those you bought are latex pillows that is manufactured differently as these days there are moulded, cut and fillings types. Most important is to adhere to the care instructions on the warranty card. And do note that latex foam is rubber tree sap and it cannot be put out in the sun as it will harden. Just wash and dry it below your porch.

if you want a good pillow, am afraid there are no cheap ones as -what you pay is what you get. Do go for those pillows that have a factory warranty on it. If a pillow is not up to expectations, it'll show within a year and you can claim the warranty.

it is hard to judge how long lasting a full latex mattress can go since there is no report/record on the latex durability.

all the sellers only promote that latex mattress is soft, nice to sleep, comfortable...etc

my dunlopillo pillow (full latex) Rm350 becomes hard and sagging after 3 years of using.

it is common sense to say that natural latex wont last as long as other good pocketed spring mattress.

And which brand of mattress do you suggest I try?

thats why a hard surface can make you stiff haha....

for your age , the best is individual pocketed springs with latex foam padding or extra firm full latex foam, i think but be prepared to pay 2.5k and above for these brands, naturatex, napure, silentnight, naturest, dunlopillo, and i saw an advertisment today @the star a brand call englander even got a promotion on one set at 1.999k. That a good deal. Don't know if its good, i have to go see first.

not getting hot ? latex foam is the best material as in regulating temperature. surprisingly it been a cool padding or mattress core ever since its been invented. ..see http://www.tatami.com.my/prod06.htm

*cool fabrics only last few years and don't think they give warranty on it....wear and tear i heard.

best price ...homeliving, macy, home&living, valencia, miva, homez, wl, bfm, eastwood, limeng, keng huat +?00 more......spoilt for choice tongue.gif

the difference ?? its spring locking turns...the more spring locking turns maybe more harder, stiff and costly a mattress...

QUOTE(abubin @ Jul 2 2008, 06:43 PM)
go try on those mattress yourself. Get the one that you are most comfortable with.

I personally would go for dunlopillo or getha. These are the brand that produce non-spring mattress. I would not buy any mattress with spring. No matter how expensive they are, after some time, the springs will become uneven on parts you sleep often and parts that you don't sleep like the edges. So, you feel some part bulging and some part soften.

I only go for non-spring type of mattress. Dunlopillo have the best and is made of very high quality materials. That's why so expensive. Getha is new player in the market (i think) but still no spring is better for me.
*
of course by now here are over 40 brands actively selling in the market...for latex brands ....aerofoam, englander, napure, naturatex, and more .. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(Weist @ Jul 3 2008, 01:35 AM)
Hi abubin,

hmm about the spring mattresses, it really depends on the type , make and number of springs used. Those that become uneven after a short while is when they lose their ''strength' and just pop up..lol. The reason they lose their strength could be , among other reasons ,being heated only once or for a short while only or the metal used is substandard quality.

The shape of the spring is another reason for ''jutting'' out springs. If its shape is not bended smoothly , not of an optimal shape , and not  compact , and if the mattress fabric is not strong, after a little wear and tear, the fabric will become thinner and the unsmooth spring will be more prominently seen. Of course even if u had the strongest fabric and an 'unsmooth' spring , the 'unsmooth' spring will still jut out and still cause discomfort and damage to our bodies.

Oh and i need to stress the feature of '' compact''-ness. Compact here means the number of springs in the mattress. The more spring the better, then the surface of the mattress is seen and feels 'smoother ', no unevenness. each spring is closely surrounded at all sides by springs which in turn are closely surrounded at all sides by other springs etc etc  , this creates a smooth transition from spring to spring. The spring we have is not the normal wave like spring. these do not work well. An example would be the ''bed of nails'' case. U wouldnt feel as much pain lying on a bed entirely covered with the sharp ends of nails than u would lying on just a few nails .

anyway, it is good u found what suits u , considering a lot of ppl dont sleep well =)
G'nite
*
compact" -ness can also come from a full high density latex foam mattress without the machanical lift movements of springs, these foam is said to be even denser and have a gent-lier lift - (more compact than springs which it is still hollow inside) icon_idea.gif
