2. Dorma Edinburg RM6,000
3. Hilker Noble RM5,500
4. Serta...forgotten name RM4,800
5. Dunlopillo Royal Exec Deluxe RM4,100

Nottingham Luxi is first choice but too over my budget. The rest still considering... any comments?

dorma and hilker = OEM brand, can skip

serta good range starts from 6k. perhaps chiro series starts from 5k.

dunlopillo = classic model ok (made in vietnam), new range can skip (made in malaysia)
*
Why skip all Made in Malaysia mattress?

Dunloppilo Nottingham Luxe/Royal Exe Deluxe... which one is classic which one is new range?

Just to share a story:

During the last PerfectLiving in PWTC, I've talked to the Dorma boss and he told me stories on how Dorma mattress are used by the QE 2, Prince Charles n Prince William, saying that Dorma is the official supplier of mattress to the royal family hence they got the royal emblem etc.

I did some research, found that its' all lies. Dorma is only official supplier for bed linen (bed sheets, pillow cover etc) and never for mattress. The official mattress supplier to the royal family is a brand called Hypnos!

Suppose was so convince and wanted to buy Dorma d... then found out all his lies and decided to boycott Dorma mattress d since nothing he said can be trusted. Decided to forego all other local made foreign sounded brand ie Hilker1888, Olaf & Co.. etc.

Will only concentrate on mainstream brand from now on.

I saw there is a Dorma mattress displayed where the price is around 4K for king-size mattress, not sure if it's suits you or not~
*
Decided to write off Dorma mattress after the made up story by their boss. Will only go for mainstream brand from now on such as Dunlopillo, Serta, Sealy etc

Well, i feel a review after using the mattress over a 1.5 year period is due.  In one word, superb.  I am still above 100kg, and the bed is still holding up like day 1.  My best investment in 2014 no doubt.  Should've bought 2 back then and have the other in my guest room which my parents occasionally drop by to use.

Thanks for sharing, it really helps with my mattress buying decision making. Am considering a Dunlopillo Royal Executive Luxe (RM4,100) within my budget….or a Serta, more luxury, more comfortable but double my budget (RM8,000-10,000)… After your review, I guess I would go for Serta now. Presidential/Regent/Elite @ about + - RM8k while iPrestige/Serenade/ Maine Super is +- RM10k.

Anybody would like to group buy with me so that we can get better offer….?

I won't jump directly into serta is the price difference is that huge.  My mattress range most likely is replaced by the presidential range.  The difference i think is presidential range using pillow top, mine was using natural latex top.  And if presidential range is going for 8k, vs alternative dunlopillo 4k, that is big difference.  I grabbed my mattress at the sleep shop at Jln. Maarof at bangsar for only RM5k after massive discount.  My only other reference for price was an earlier link from harvey norman store which happen to has the same range at that time for RM15k.  So yeah, grab Serta especially when you spot super massive sale, else at 8k, which is only 50% off listed price to me is still too pricy.

You were so lucky that they have a clearance at that time!

Merry Christmas to all!

I am looking for a couple of mattresses... apparently Sealy (Sheraton uses this brand) seems to be the most comfy but also most expensive!!!

Can the gurus recommend me a good memory foam mattress? I am currently using Mr America from King Koil (with Memory Foam), already more than 8 years I think.

BTW today I went to a shop that sells a new series of Dunloppilo called Europa 3D something that's basically all memory foam and a thin layer of latex at the bottom. Costs 1990 ringgit. Is this mattress good?

Thanks.

Harvey Norman is doing 50+6 % promotion on SEALY right now...there are some models quite affordable, better go check it out!

Hi all,

Shortlisted Kingkoil hotel 100, 200 and Dunlopillo royal luxe. May I know any recommended shop to buy? Don't think Mattress depot carries the models.

Many thanks!
*
For Dunlopillo Royal Exec Luxe, you can try MFO and Kinsen. They've offered me the best price. Also, please take extra care when purchasing as there is a Eclipse with the exact same look and same name. Almost got cheated once.

Eclipse is purposely created an identical design to attack dunlopillo.

Exact same name and same look to attack? More like trying to cheat customer into accidently buying the wrong mattress if doesn't look closely. yawn.gif

QUOTE(rompers @ Dec 29 2015, 05:33 PM)
Hello everybody..greetings.

I'm on a lookout for a KING sized Mattress (without Divan, since I already have a box frame built into the room).

Budget ~RM2K

So far (after going through the bulk of the thread postings by fellow LYN forumers here), it appears that I should,

1) avoid any Malaysian made mattresses (anyone able to elaborate on this point?)
2) avoid OEM brands (i.e. Eclipse, Hilker, Dorma, etc.)
3) avoid Coir (fibre) mattresses as they are not durable/long-lasting

Does anyone else have any other DOs and DON'Ts or any recommendations (within budget) for me?

My current wants in a Mattresses:

1) Budget ~RM2K (mattress + topper).
2) Medium-Hard feel (pocket spring+latex topper?) <-- I'm sure of the feel that I want, but unsure of the composition range hence the question mark.

Many thanks in advance for all the answers and advice smile.gif

Referring to point 1, I'll say Malaysian made mattress are ok.. you can go for it. Most of them came out from the same factory in Sg Buloh.
Referring to point 2, OEM brands usually comes with a lot of bull dung stories ie used by royal family la etc. I just don't like the bull dung stories and I found that these stories are lies. Aside from that, you may need to worry that after 2-3 years when the brand doesn't sell, they can always change brand/label.

It's hard to believe a reputable mattress manufacturer/company are doing that. I tend to believe they can give such a low dirt price because they produce and sell their own mattresses themselves.

Bypassing the retailers and sellers where mostly taking a profit margin by 30 - 60% can give such a huge discount to consumers when they sell the mattress themselves during warehouse sales. hmm.gif
*
Those are new mattress. New and in good conditions. Don’t worry!

I went to check today, the sales clearly point out to me which are
1. display unit
2. dirty/plastic koyak dirty
3. water stained/yellowish
4. Brand new, unopened
5. obsolete model

So as mentioned above… willing buyer willing seller, a deal is made.

So envy ppl who bought Nottingham Luxe n Royal Exec Luxe… by the time i got there, sold out d sad.gif

There are both new and display, the sales will tell you.... both the same price. Early bird gets the worm. I was told Nottingham Luxe went for RM2xxx, that's one of my most wanted mattress cry.gif
