QUOTE(robinlim @ Jan 16 2009, 09:50 AM) If the player itself has the decoding function u shd still be able to get sound through RCA but of coz it's only stereo lar Even if the WDTV has internal decoding which I really dont think so, you wont get 5.1 channels from the your termed RCA. Those are for two channels, how to carry 5.1 channels? Only way to get 5.1 channels is thru toslink and HDMI. Added on January 16, 2009, 11:04 amQUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 16 2009, 10:02 AM) Hi guys, tell me if I get this right.. if the unit has no internal Dolby Digital or DTS decoding, then if the user has no AVR to decode it, then its practically pointless to buy this unit? I'm asking because a friend of mine is very interested in getting this unit but he only has a LCD TV with HDMI in. Can the WD output audio (in stereo) via the HDMI? Many thanks! Not pointless. You still get 2 channel sound ma thru HDMI or the so-called RCA pairs. This post has been edited by DigitalKL: Jan 16 2009, 11:04 AM

RCA is not the correct term to use. RCA is a plug. Both digital and analog also got RCA hence the confusion.
How do I find out which MKV in my library has only DD/DTS?

QUOTE(phat_newbie @ Feb 2 2009, 08:56 AM) Hi ppl, I just got my WDTV last night. Wanted to ask if anyone knows how to disable the audio output via the HDMI and only output the audio via the composite red and white cables?? Reason is because I'm connecting the WDTV unit to my PC speakers for audio while HDMI for video. 1. my plasma tv can set to off the internal speakers. try looking for this setting 2. worse come to worse, turn down the volume of your TV

QUOTE(trd088 @ Mar 6 2009, 06:57 PM) I just bought a WD TV...happy to watch HD files in this little device. But, I found a problem which is remote controller. First time i used it...after an hour, no matter how many times i clicked on the remote control and WD TV didn't respond to what I clicked... Then, I update firmware and reboot it...it works again... Second day, I used it...after 4 hours of shows playing...the remote controller fail to work again... does any brothers and sisters face this problem?if yes, pls let me know...how do u all solve it...THANKS VERY MUCH!!! assuming you are aiming at the WDTV when using the remote and there is no blockage, and your batteries are ok (change them to try) no other choice but to take it back and claim warranty This post has been edited by DigitalKL: Mar 7 2009, 08:10 AM

I always have this problem (even when just bought since last year) -
My WDTV is connected using HDMI to my Plasma TV. When I turn them both on, sometimes (many times) I get the "no-sync detected" signal. No sync on my TV means like no connection or no video signal coming in.
Alot of times when I first turn it on, I can see the WD logo then poof, goes to "no sync". I have to un-cucuk the HDMI cable, on/off WDTV or TV, do a few things before I can get everything working again.
Sometimes I would get vertical lines spaces evenly apart across the screen also and solved by doing the same thing as above.
My HDMI cable is by Giraffe. I cant try another cable cause my TV is hung on the wall and I cant get another cable in unless someone helps me. Unfortunately my TV is zaman dulu wan so no extra HDMI port at the front or side.
It looks like my WDTV sometimes cant auto detect my connection. I had this problem the day I bought it (read the beginning pages). I didnt get it repair because the problem is intermittent. I dont want to send it back unless it totally wont work.
Anyone else encounter this problem?
