Added on April 23, 2009, 10:50 pmFinish upgrade to 07 without any flaw this time. Resolution back to auto. My hard disk still spinning after turn off by remote but I think slower than before. Is that spinning down claim by WD?
*
Just an opinion to share:

I usually select the output resolution rather than setting it to auto.

Yes, your RM369 WDtv can do upscaling to 1080p
Yes , your RMxxxxx LCD/Plasma also can do upscaling to 1080p

The LCD/Plasma upscaler shud be much better than the WDtv.

Therefore, it is recommended to use the WDtv to play your mkv at its native resolution so as to let yr hdtv's do the upscaling.

Eg:
My WDtv resolution is set to 720p instead of auto for 720p mkv.
My WDtv resolution is set to 1080p/auto for 1080p mkv.

U can also choose yr prefered framerates too.

wah.. WDTV can upscale ... cool.. rclxms.gif need to go buy one...

sory noob question..  biggrin.gif

if i want to play my 720p upscale to 1080p what is the setting? dun know whether my PV80 can upscale.. how bout normal DVDrip.. WDTV can upscale?

how do u guys update the firmware? via usb? can the WDTV play DTS decoded mkv passthru optical? i dun have AVR with HDMI connection... thanx in advance..
*
If yr plasma can do 1080p, it will upscale automatically. Mkv upscales very nicely, dvdrip can play but will not match the resolution of mkv.

To update firmware, download the file, unzip the two files to yr thumbdrive, connect to the wdtv & follow the onscreen prompt.

Yes, the wdtv has an optical output, u can connect to yr avr without hdmi.

Bought WD TV few weeks back. Updated to the latest firmware 1.02.07.
I am having difficulty to resume my movie every time after I power off it sad.gif.

I couldn't perform Search using time input, or maybe I don't know.

Anyone kind to share how to resume movie without using the FF function?

TQ
*
U can only resume yr movie provided you do not power off your wdtv. Once u power off, u start from fresh. That's very normal.

QUOTE(mikapoh @ May 4 2009, 11:20 PM)
Well explained podrunner..... rclxms.gif

I truly agreed. The price of the Dvico alone is the stumbling block for me, not to mention the space hungry untouched bluray ISO/m2ts files which can easily swallowed up your 1TB hard disk without you even noticing it..... tongue.gif

I have the feeling that WDTV will come out another model which will support HD-Audio in near future. Look at Dvico, there are already models with 4100, 6500, 7100....I will not hesitate to get one if price is good or if not, by then 6500a price will be more affordable.

Like I said , there are 2 issues short of my expectations but cannot deny that I am a happy user too:

1) WDTV cant play all 1080p mkv especially those animations which have high reframes rate.
I am trying to avoid 1920px1080p mkv. To be on safer side if you still want 1080p, the limit of playback is 1920px816p

2) WDTV cant support HD True Audio due to its V1.2 HDMI port. You need at least V1.3 so this babe is born without this feature. Hardware problem not firmware unless they produce another higher unit.

For No.1 above, future firmware shall be able to solve it where it will supports higher and higher ReFrame of more than 8 perhaps......Thats mean now left with Audio concern for me.  laugh.gif
*
Pls excuse me ... in the present, how many mkv files u have come across, have HD True Audio??

I have not come across yet. But m2ts have both True Audio and DTS together.

Thank you for the info.

Aaaaa .. backing up yr Bluray in yr harddisk is a big hassle. U need a BDreader & it takes hours ..... tongue.gif

WD mentioned that the best thumbnail size is 120x180...but isn't that a little too small.  Is 120x180 optimum for both 720P and 1080P?

If it is the same size for both 720p and 1080p, then it should look smaller on the 1080p tv?

Added on May 9, 2009, 2:09 pmI use to get the WDTV from a seller here at Rm365 but yesterday i call him for the latest price and he told me increase to RM415 now.  What is going on here.  Where can i find it at Rm365?
*
i wud agree that 120 X 180 is the optimium thumbnail size for 720p as well as 1080p. i have tired other 0.6666666666 ratio combinations ... the fonts displayed in those combination are bad ..tongue.gif

if u are in kl. try lowyat plaza, they were selling at rm369 there last week. rm400+ = works of profiters LOL. good luck!

I just bought my unit a few days back, I'm still exploring it and is the highlighted sentence refers to d display pictures on the folders? There is a function whereby v can browse the movies by thumbnails.. is there any special file format that I should put on the pictures? The pictures i managed to get are approximately 25kb. Currently I just modify the folder options of the files whereby I set it to thumbnail views with selected pictures but it still doesn't show in d thumbnail mode. Thanks in advance.  rclxub.gif
*
Err .. hope this will help :

1) For me, i need to update my wdtv firmware to 1.02.07. Only with this firmware version, i was able to display all my thumbnails properly.

2) For yr mkv files, the thumbnail name & the file name must be the same.

3) For folder thumbnail, just name the thumbnail as folder.jpg.

I do not have those specific files that you mentioned. But all the 1080p files that i have in my collect, they run fine.

QUOTE(DigitalKL @ May 19 2009, 08:39 AM)
I always have this problem (even when just bought since last year) -

My WDTV is connected using HDMI to my Plasma TV. When I turn them both on, sometimes (many times) I get the "no-sync detected" signal. No sync on my TV means like no connection or no video signal coming in.

Alot of times when I first turn it on, I can see the WD logo then poof, goes to "no sync". I have to un-cucuk the HDMI cable, on/off WDTV or TV, do a few things before I can get everything working again.

Sometimes I would get vertical lines spaces evenly apart across the screen also and solved by doing the same thing as above.

My HDMI cable is by Giraffe. I cant try another cable cause my TV is hung on the wall and I cant get another cable in unless someone helps me. Unfortunately my TV is zaman dulu wan so no extra HDMI port at the front or side.

It looks like my WDTV sometimes cant auto detect my connection. I had this problem the day I bought it (read the beginning pages). I didnt get it repair because the problem is intermittent. I dont want to send it back unless it totally wont work.

Anyone else encounter this problem?
*
I think it is normal. Don't worry about it. Don't be too anxious. The WDTV requires a small amount of time to read the harddisk. The moment you on your lcd & the wdtv, leave them be for a few moments. Don't fiddle with yr remote. Hehe!!

now many ppl use it. it is not a problem for WD

the wdtv is primarily used for hd contents for your hdtvs. rm & rmvb files are usually of sd quality.
