QUOTE(SugarCoatedCandy @ Apr 10 2009, 10:32 AM) You can try looking for Selsun shampoo.. These are practically safe for piggies. You can try getting it from the vet as many vets use this sometimes to treat mites. If that is hard to get, you can also try Prioderm shampoo. The prioderm is actually meant for humans, but its very2 safe for GPs too. But its best to consult a vet before you get your hands on these shampoo's. I thought can make a bigger cage for him if can diy. Like that nvm lar.. Will try to find a suitable metal case for him then. Thought can custom a play area for him using netting. Added on April 10, 2009, 10:35 am How will you apply this netting? Yes they like to bite ocassionaly too. Instead of DIY, you can always get pet cages big enuff for him ^^.. This will also ensure that he wont hurt himself by getting stuck in the netting or sort. Coz their feets, can get stuck in the netting.. and he wont be able to pull his feet out |

Hmm.. Maybe will try to diy using metal netting. It won't have a base and roof for the cage as is in balcony area. So will use news paper as base and toilet area with bedding. Just side netting to keep him from running to other area. Hehehe..

QUOTE(SugarCoatedCandy @ Apr 10 2009, 04:11 PM) I finally found finch's post of his DIY home hahaha. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=24452624 Ohh... i know what material finch is using, can get it in popular book store. But i thought wanna make him a bigger cage so that he have more place and better air circulation. But those wire mesh i scare he will bite it as it poison rite the wire mesh? This is sufficient i think.. just make sure if you are gonna make the open concept.. you dont have other pets.. and free from predators. The storage box costs RM20 like finch said. If you decide to put netting around it, wire mesh can (About RM10 per meter).. coz the GP's wont be biting the mesh coz the height of the base enclosure is just nice so that they wont be able to nibble on the mesh. Thank so much for helping out to find the finch diy cage, i did try to find.. but over 100++ pages oh... |

QUOTE(scorpgal @ Apr 10 2009, 04:43 PM) It not a box, finch diy it become a box. Is a plastic board normally people use for signboard. You can find is in bookshop normally or artshop. Popular also got. Then u buy few pieces and DIY it accordingly to ur preference. But would GP climb out if too low? Then too high the air circulation not that good rite? Just my 2cent of thought... |

But anyway he is so cute... Only thing is he pee poo so much in 1 day Very seldom use his toilet area somemore, so gotto pick his poo daily..... To diy the cage took me 1/2 day, it cost me bout RM40 plus the tools require.. It's not a very tidy job but it will do just fine at the moment.. Will try to find another heavier house for him to sleep in as he like to re-arrange everything inside the case... bottle wan wor.. so i gotto change the water daily in his bowl.. |

QUOTE(SugarCoatedCandy @ Apr 13 2009, 10:11 AM) You will need to research first on GPs before owning one.. Prices for shelties or peruvians are like what carol said. You will need a nice home for it too and prepare about RM150+ for pet store cages. Foods are about RM20 hay about RM25. Water bottles are about 10-15. Bedding depending on what you will use. Take note of fresh veggies too.. my veggies per week is about RM10... also you must consider fees and trips to the vet if your GP falls sick or anything. If you think they are easy to take care.. you will have to rethink again.. and they are not cheap either coz they eat a lot. Yup true also what u saying bout the supplement, just that it confuse me since i read some forummerCarol you are not hurting him lol... you are merely giving some advice.. and whatever you said.. is so very true Grats huahua!~ glad that the mites problem is gone ^^ GPs actually do not require any pill or calcium or anything like that.. they absorb all the vitamins and etc from their daily vege intake. Also from hay and pellets. All these nutrients are absorbed into their body and the best time to absorb it is feeding veges in the evening or nite. So giving supplement is subjective.. Mine are very2 healthy without supplements provide their GP with vit and calcium... Normally i feed them with vege and fruit at nite after work... then play wit him for a while so that he be friendlier to me soon... This morning he got greet me liao.... hehehehe... Seem like he not that afraid of me... |

QUOTE(limie @ Apr 13 2009, 01:19 PM) I use newspaper to put as the base lor... then bought those dog or cat sheet to absorb his pee, under his sleeping area covered it with newspaper also...Added on April 13, 2009, 3:51 pm QUOTE(carolhyf @ Apr 13 2009, 03:38 PM) Yeah, i agreed wt Sugar. No need to provide them any sypplement as long as provided them the right nutricience food as like Vegs, fruits, pallet and hay. I need to provide Jingle Calcium is because this is her 1st pregnant and she was already 10 mths old. The calcium supplement (liquid) is actually prescription from Dr.Jenny and believe that you will not able to get this from pet shop. Jingle dont eat vegs and fruits until she was 5 mths old when i bring Jasper back to company her. She learn how to take vegs and fruits frm Jasper acutally. Your baby GP is very cute.. congrat.. Due the Jasper sickness and Jingle pregnant, Dr.Jenny ask me to give them for additional of Vit.C to so that Jasper can recover more faster and Jingle need the extra for the babies. I go and see Dr.Jenny yesterday and she told me since Jingle has giving birth, only need to give her calcium for another week and then have to stop. Vit.C i can give them once per week only if i wan since now both of them taking vegs and fruits. Dr.Jenny said it is better for them to have all the nutricience naturally from food instead of give supplement unless they dont eat vegs and fruits or when they are sick. Since Blackie are so healthy, no need to provide him extra supplement. Just need to make sure that he takes all the nutricience food that you provide to him is ok. Added on April 13, 2009, 3:44 pm Thank you. Jingle was 10 mths old and this is her 1st pregnant. Actually is very risky and that why i do what ever i can to make sure that she will have smoothy delivered. Yup will try to provide him all the natural nutricience foods he needs...
