agree that there have been different interpretations of bond by different actors.
while it can be said that the current actor and his portrayal fits with what sells these days (a'la bourne), then it can be said that bond has fallen victim to mass appeal (changing characters to appease fans of genre). the excuse which is perfectly fine is he is just starting to become the bond we all know.

and to compare above, sean connery really did define bond. his portrayal was the best bond to the majority. he defined bond and made him cool when there were no other characters like him at that time. so it can be said his take is original, a classic and is legendary.
