haha agree with you, i have never seen older bond movie but compare pierce and craig, i will pick pierce, as a spy u need to blend in, looks normal, handsome is ok, but craig look like a bad ass assassin those type will get thoroughly scan at custom 

I've never been a Bond fan (only watched the last four or five Bond movies) but the action scenes never fail to wow me. Judging by the trailer, looks like I'm gonna have a blast watching this. I just hope there's enough to keep someone like me occupied.

yeah i guess there are 2 mentalities to watching bond. the newer fans might want to go for realism but the original bond up until pierce brosnans last film is all about escapism, a mans fantasies of being a spy, not really about being a spy. i mean, what kind of spy would everyone villain in the world knows about, and gladly telling people his real name, "Bond, James Bond".
the success of the bourne series prompted the producers to go younger, more direct, and brutal with craig and the bruising action scenes and camerawork. while lifelong fans of bond had no real sense of escapism.
while Casino Royale is a very fine movie when judged by today action movies standard, comparing it with older bond movies since the times of Sean Roger and Pierce feels like an awkward shift. anyway i would still go watch Skyfall just out of sheer fandom of James Bond.

Skyfall beauty Berenice Marlohe has revealed that she had to coax Craig to remove his garments for a sex scene between the pair.


The stunning actress said: 'He was very shy and when he saw me entering the shower he was like, "Oh my God."

'He tried to keep his underpants on for the shower scenes but I said, "No, come on, don't be shy. I will do anything to make you feel comfortable."'
While Marlohe was kind to the shy actor during their love scene, she made sure he knew that she wouldn't be happy being the victim of one of his pranks.

"Casino Royale" was bad? No way... the second one "Quantum of Solace" was quite underwhelming and was a little lost (oil? or was it water). Daniel Craig made Pierce Brosnan look like a softy. Ball scratcher torture scene, come on, what a pain that was to watch and Brosnan would probably start crying in an instant after the first 'hit'.

I am quite confident "Skyfall" will be a notch better than QoS but since I haven't seen it, it would be a mighty achievement if it was better than the "Casino Royale". Watching it tonight. Haven't read a single review entirely, all I know it is pretty good... can't wait to see Javier Bardem in a villain role again.

Quite a let down for me, first half of the film was incredible and I was ready to give it a 10/10, but after Silva was captured and they got back to London it just turned into a snoozefest for me. Got cheered up a bit when the DB5 appeared and Bond mentioned about the ejector seat, but that whole sequence at Bond's childhood home was really boring.



And I don't get what's all the craze with Javier Bardem's performance. IMO he looks like a pretty weak villain. Daniel Craig's performance in this film is way better than him imo.

Overall 7/10. Casino Royale still remains as the best modern Bond film for me. Skyfall isn't even close on being on the same level as Casino Royale.

Also if I can nitpick:

I agree i love cars and the women in Bond. But with M being the core if the story, it may explain why they chose to minimize other female characters in the film. Especially when they were trying to make a strong case of M being the most important woman in Bond's life. And with the introduction of new characters like Monepenny, the new M and Q, there's very little screen time for anything else.

I think the sense of drama is well executed and needed. Unlike before, the structure of the series have changed in that there's continuity in Craig's Bond and plots.

CR and QoS may be different in style, but in terms of plot it was one long continuing story. In CR, Bond was operating within his comfort zone so in terms of the traditional Bond-like movie, it was the series closest resembling to old Bond films. Bond was in control, doing things we expect him to do, until he got burned by Vesper. At the end, you knew he was going to go apeshit.

In QoS, Bond's state of mind was in a mess. He was grieving, conflicted yet driven by more than his sense of duty. Here the pace and intensity of the film increased and the fast cutting editing mirrored it. Bond's recklessness takes on a whole new level, and M began to question whether or not Bond can be controlled. This fleeting moment of doubt from M will come back in force later in Skyfall. At the end of QoS, you get the idea that Bond was mellowing out after getting some closure. The strong drama and somber mood of the closing scene will set the tone of the next film.

Skyfall is like a breakdown after a relentless chorus in a song. It is slow and deliberate, almost to the point of depressing. The main story breaks away from Quantum but the film explores the issue of loyalty which QoS had subtly touched. There's not much of espionage because the danger is too close to home. A drama is fitting because the issue of loyalty and the paranoia of insecurity is normally a psychological one. Besides the climax between Bond and M, the introduction of new characters are also brilliant dramatized by Mendes.

Should the pattern continues, the end of Skyfall should sets up the tone for the next film. If this is the case, i don't think Mendes will direct the next Bond movie. Bond looks angry but equally excited, i think a more explosive and action oriented film is forthcoming. So for this reason, i won't be surprised if Nolan gets the nod - tho he won't be my first choice. But with Skyfall already in course to becoming the highest grossing Bond film, the man in suits will be tempted to use Nolan given his status as among one of most bankable directors of his generation.

Nolan along with his brother Jonathan can be a terrific writer, but the more I see his films the more I feel he just isn't good enough as a complete package director. His visual grasp is weak, arguably the most important aspect of a director's abilities. Mendes isn't an action director too- in terms of sheer fun and excitement I think the setpieces in Skyfall don't nearly reach the level of CR (who can forget the opening chase in Africa and then the airport sequence?), but he knows how to frame shots and piece scenes together with visual coherence and splendour, something Nolan is clearly lacking. And when you team up with one of the best cinematographers working today, you get action scenes with stunning backdrops. The blue neon background of the skyscraper in China. The glowing red Macau casino. The picturesque Scotland mountainside. The intense burning cottage in the final showoff, never far off the frame. You can't deny the action in Skyfall has arguably the best images in all of Bond films. I also love the shot of Bond walking from the dark hotel corridors into the bright, dusty streets of Istanbul. And that long introductory shot of Silva.
